Recaseing ?'s

For recaseing should the mycelium be broken up or the top layer be scratched;
or should the new casing layer just be added? (what if the top of soil is not covered with mycelium, and the mushies are just poking through the soil not covering the top really at all?)

The old casing removed, and a new layer applied. Only recomended if the old layer is seriously overlayed or similar.

the old casing is not overlayed at all, so should I just take a flamed spoon and scoop off the layer?

I plan on doing that, but I reallly do not think I need to recase, there is not really any visible mycelium and more and more pins are forming

should I still add more casing on top? Please help I am confused
