Mycobag Question
    #6168994 - 10/14/06 01:05 PM (17 years, 5 months ago)

Just got a mycobag and a 10cc of Mexican spores, I've injected just under 3cc into the mycobag.

Excuse the lack of details, I would post more if I could.

My question is, do I need to let air at the bag regularly?

I have the mycobag placed in the shipping box with the filter hanging outside the box, the box is then placed inside one of my draws with nothing else in it.

Do I need to open the draw every now and then or will it be ok just to leave it where it is and check back in a few weeks?

Feedback very much appreciated.

Sadly, you can't get any help if you keep it a secret what's inside the mycobag. Bags don't colonize or anything else, the substrate or grains within do. Filter patch bags are used for everything from grain spawn to compost to sawdust/woodchips. If it's a grain based bag, you want a plenum of air on top of the grains and to have it exposed to air so gasses can exchange. I'd recommend keeping it on a shelf rather than in a drawer or box.

It's not that I'm keeping it a secret I just don't know what's in it.

Brownish color looks like large grains of brown rice, says on a sheet of paper that came with it that it contains all foods that the mushrooms need to grow.

Once again excuse my ignorance It's my first time growing shrooms, and I was in a hurry when I noticed the grow kits on sale, was a very quick transaction
