cakes pinnin before fully colonised in incubation normal?

hi guys a cake i have incubating in a dark airing cupboard, and it has pinned 2 baby mushhrooms, and the mycelium hasnt fully collonised fully yet, it kind slowed to a stop after a month but now pins and i was wondering if this is normal, and what do you do in this situation?

It usually means the mycelium has ran up against a natural barrier such as contamination, and is doing what it's supposed to do-reproducing. They usually pin shortly after full colonization, and if a contaminant has part of the substrate, full colonization is achieved when the mycelium reaches the border with the contaminant.

I suggest birthing them cutting off any uncolonized substrate if they're close to full colonization. It's not uncommon for myc to prematurely pin on substrate not fully colonized especially when parameters are right. The uncolonized area may also very well not have the correct moisture content (too dry). GL
