leaky pressure cooker

i have a medium sized canner (fits 7 quart jars) that i got a few years ago from the flea market. its an all-american. it is slightly warped but hasnt caused too much of a problem. but now the stop cock has started to hiss and puff out some steam sometimes when closed. is this a problem? can i fix it? how? thanks.

Does it do that BEFORE reaching the pressure of 15 PSI or after? If it?s after, it?s perfectly normal.

you can go online and get a replacement.

If this is the black rubber looking peice.... I heard it needs to be replaced every few years.
