ok tell me if this sounds good, i got 2/3 cup harts 50% millet 50% groaten oats with 1/3 cup water sitting overnight, tomorrow i'm going to drain any excess water and then i'm gonna add enough so that i can see it about an tall in the bottom of my jars. then i'm gonna wipe the top of the jars and sterilize them in my pressure cooker at 15psi for about an hour and a half......but what i'm not sure of is how to tape the holes after they cool down, do i wait till they are cool then innoculate them and then tape the holes......thats what i'm thinking but i'm not totally sure.......anywho if anyone could tell me if i'm doing this right or not i'd greatly appreciate it........once again thanx to all you myco-hobbiests without you i'd just fuck it all up
You tape the lids BEFORE you sterilze but keep the lids loose to let the steam escape. After the jars cool, you tighten the lids and briefly remove the tape to inoculate. It is a good idea to replace the tape until the jars begin to colonize and then remeve it for good. Also, one hour in the PC should be enough but don't forget to put water in the bottom of the PC about half way to the top of the bottom jars.
