buying a brand new PC today, advice???
    #6161754 - 10/12/06 11:26 AM (17 years, 5 months ago)

Ok years ago I spent 150$ for a Mirro(7quart) PC, and while it did work pretty well for awhile, over time, I came to hate it.

Not shocking then that I would find lots of people online bitching about mirro PC's.

Today I have about 200-250$ to spend on a PC, what should I get???

The prices wont be as much of a problem this time, as I will be going to Canadian Tire, and I think Homehardware was overcharging.
But I will go to other stores if I have to, or I will head to the next town over which has a much bigger mall.  :smirk:

I borrowed a PC with a gauge on it for awhile, and wow was that sweet.

What PC should I get????
(I will go as high as 250$Canadian if I have too)

THANKS!

This is what I bought not too long ago. Its an 18 Quart Presto and I found new for 80 shippped. Look around for a bit for a good price on it. It has proven very successful for me. Of course if you really WANT to spend 200, grab an All-American Pressure Cooker.

If you plan on doing a lot of cultivating in the near future, I wouldn't go any smaller than 22 quarts. I don't know the currency exchange rate, but you can pick up a 22 quart Mirro or 23 quart Presto for less than $100.00 US shipped.

I can see why you hated your other Mirro, as 7 quarts is pretty damn small. I own a 22 quart Mirro and while it does work good, I wish I would have thrown down for an All-American PC.

I would reccomend trying your luck at visiting a few resale shops or goodwills in your area. If you can't find one for a few bucks, then buy a new one.
I lucked out and got a 22 qt from a retail shop for free. Looked like it was made in the 50's but it works great.

Buy one with a higher PSI that way it will take you less time to sterlize

All American PC.  Metal-to-metal seal, built to last your lifetime and then one.  One of the few "American made" products I will vouch for.

I still have my 4 quart mirro for doing LC's.  The one thing about having a giant PC is that it takes a long time to spool up, which is a pain for smaller projects.  You may want to pick up a smaller PC for the side.

You can say that again. It takes at least 1-1 1/2 hours just to get up to pressure. That's on my kitchen stove. When I PC in the garage with a hot plate that number will sky rocket to 2 hours.

Well, what a fucking waste of time trying to shop for a PC was, Zellers, didn't have any, from what I could tell, but i got the hell out of there pretty quick, because I used to work there, and I don't like being followed while I shop.

Geez, I was always a pretty decent guy when I was there, why do they always think I am going to come back and steal from them, tongue.gif
Maybe it was the giant guitar bag, or the month old beard, whatevr fuck em :fuckyou:
(Remember kids....a bread means your lazy and lack character )

At Canadian Tire, they were remolding, which made everything extra lame, I found and "Intelligent PC" thats electronic, and pretty small, open the box, and nowhere does it say how high it goes(PSI), I find a shitty Jasi, same thing, no listing.

The first time I asked if I could open a box, then next time I just yanked it open. (I know I'm so hardcore )
Tore the plastic open and everything to get at the instructions devil.gif

I left, but not before getting some verm, a150watt compact fluorescent, and another spray bottle, I hate shopping, I always know what I want to buy when I leave the house, I don't wander around shopping, and I hate going from store to store looking for shit, every PC I saw was crap, so tomorrow, I'm calling around before I go anywhere........I may have to take the bus out of town for a good PC. :frown:

I did see some filters and humidifiers there at Canadian-Tire, and I almost picked up one of each, but on the way home, I stopped at the Sally Ann(thrift store) and picked up a humidifier for 10$, and then I got a brand new clean filter to go in it for another 10$, plus an awsome little reflector for 3$.
SCORE!

So Ebay is starting to seem like a much cooler idea now.
And a 30$ shipping plus 20-30$ PC =50-60, so ya, maybe Ebay.
