Tool @ Nassau Review
    #6159364 - 10/11/06 08:16 PM (14 years, 7 months ago)

Well this past weekend I was lucky enough to spend the night of my birthday at the Tool Show at Nassau Coliseum. The show absolutely blew my mind. This show topped so many concert experiences for me. It was without a doubt the best to date.

I was sitting there in my seat in section 303 (the third tier up) just waiting for the band to come on. Letting the chocolate set in. I was watching this white blank stage watching the insturments and listenign to the soundcheck wondering.. wow.. jsut a blank white stage? this looks boring. Well let me tell you that when those lights went out it wasn't even a stage anymore. It was a psychedelic explosion. The band was essentially standing on a screan that was playing insane visualisations. A lot of Alex Grey art intertwined with Tool music videos and trippy optical illusions as well as iTunes like visuals as well. The opened with stinkfist and I entirely fell prey to Tool.

Visually it was the most amazing thing I have seen. Musically it was the most captivating thing I ever heard. Maynards voice was probably the loundest and most powerful thing i have ever heard. Nothing has ever paralyzed me the way Tool did that night. I literally didn't feel right standing and dancing to it. i felt like i needed to sit still to fully grasp and enjoy them.

Later in the show the started busting out the laser lights that made Nassau Coliseum seem as though it was in the palm of their hands. There were beams bouncing all over the place making zigzags in idfferent collors all around the stadium. They also busted out these strings of light bulbs behind them lighting up in these wormy ways.

They played a lot of new stuff but a lot of old stuff to. I really wanted to hear more odler stuff but the new stuf wasn't bad either. The new stuff really went well with the visuals. They played for 2 hours and I thoroughly enjoyed it. it was my first tool show. i shant miss them again...

Anywho haven't posted in a while. how is everyone?

When I saw tool in Toronto so much amazed me. As they played Wings for Marie it started to rain and mid song a small flock of white doves flew over. awesome

hehe... well... i had like a cosmic show encore visual so i can relate. when we came outside the sky was unlink any other with beautiful clouds around the moon. It was pretty intense. I love when things like that happened.

Fuck Ani, that sounds wonderful. I wish I could have experienced it with you.
