Right in Two
    #6157682 - 10/11/06 01:00 PM (14 years, 6 months ago)

is the best track on the new TOOL album. It encompasses all the thoughts I have regarding the scheme of the human species as a whole when I've absolutely shredded my mind to psychedelic bits.  The terrible things that humans do in a world of possibility, to me, has always seemed to rest on the shoulders of Duality, and our obsession with it, our inability to process things beyond the simple act of splitting them into good and evil or black and white.

Great track.

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

Indeed

But hopefully we can get some more shades of Grey in to the B&W outlook of humanity.
And soon full colour.

I love the thought of seeing moronic shits moshing to songs like this with lyrics like this being sung.  FUcking hilarious.

The show I was at, a pit started when the opening notes to Schism rang out... hahahaha.

I'll say this to the end, Tool fans are the worst.

They hear the banging and the guitars like truck engines and they're like RAWR YES ANGRY WE ARE ANGRY TOO.

THat being said, I danced like a fucking freak on 3.5g of mushrooms in my apartment listening to 10,000 days in headphones.

haha reminds me of back in the day, like when I was 17 we where all chillin in this defunct van my friend had, but it had a killer system, so we'd just charge the battery and take er from there... anywho, we had about an 8th and half in each of us... I wish I could remember the Doors song we listened to, totally primal, just keyed in on all of our trips and we all just went ape shit thrashing around and shit. if anybody knows this song please tell me... its all angular and abstract and really out there... yeah. TOOL rocks peace.

definatly.
one of the best things about tool is the fact that once one gains an interest in a bit of their music, you cant help but delve into any and all of it.

compared to this particular song, most of the songs the subject and meaning are a bit more obscure, and require a closer look. but thats just another thing i love about tool.

Yes. Last night I watched an interview with Maynard and Danny (that's the singer and the drummer) and Maynard had some really interesting things to say. He likened TOOL's music to films, in that you have to really soak them in. The songs are not "Easy to get into," you have to make the effort to let them take you wherever it is that they're going.

Their themes and topics appeal to the mind that has been chemically affected by psychedelics, for sure.
