My cats love edible mushrooms some of their favorites are Boletus Edulis, Craterellus Tubaeformis, Tricholoma Caligatum and Tricholoma magnivelare.
That said I hope that your kitty is all right and please do update us on his/her condition.

Ah that's scary, I'm glad the kitty is ok. When I found A. Muscaria last year I did a lot of reading up on it and one of the things I remember reading (I took note of it because I have cats) was that it was incredibly toxic to cats....but, maybe it's not true if your kitty is ok. Either way, glad tragedy was averted. Have fun with those, mine never panned out...either I fucked them up in drying and/or cooking, or I just got ones too late in the season for my area. I hear earlier ones are more psychoactively potent, late ones are more toxic.

Well, from what I have read, amanita is toxic to humans. It just depends on who you ask... or what you read...

Its toxic in the same way that alcohol is toxic, if you eat 20 amanitas you can die, just the same way you can die from drinking 20 bottles of vodka. There's a good article I found on amanitas here... http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/6108852/an/0/page/0

20 bottles of vodka!?!?!?
I think you'd be easily able to die from even a couple of bottles of vodka by choking on your own vomit...

Well yeah your right that was waay over the top, , someone died after eating 23 A. muscarias note that he was an old man though. The other thing I thought was weird about that death, 23 amanitas is a pretty big meal!
Yeah apparently 1 1/2 bottles of vodka drunk quickly can kill you. I distill my own spirits and I'm still a bit surprised by that figure. I was reading about some crazy guy who survived a blood alcohol level of 7.22 ppm, where most spew at 1.2, black out at 3 and stop breathing at 4.

I have read a report about cats finding dried muscaria enticing to the point of obsession. It is toxic to them and they will eat it until they die. Keep it locked up.

Yeah, me too. It was a narrative so I am thinking it must have been in an old "Mushroom The Journal" instead of a scientific reference. But the chances of me finding it easily are pretty small. If I stumble across it again, I'll amend this post.
What I do remember is that after the cat ate the muscaria and was taken to the vet to recover it still scratched at the cupboard where the dried muscaria was stored. There is apparently some sort of attractive component present only in the dried mushrooms. It must not be present in the fresh mushrooms or you would see cats eating them from the yard.

This doesn't have anything to do with Amanita's but, my youngest cat keeps opening the door to my China cabinet trying to get into the Morel project I have in it. I mean, he's dead set on getting into it. At night in bed I can here the door bang shut several times when he fails to open it completely. So then I have to go downstairs and chase him away, then put something in front of the door to prevent him from opening it. I think he's the culprit of a ruined project already because the foil was all sorts of out of wack when I went to check on them. And of course I get up in the morning to take a looksy at the remaining project I have and move the foot stand that's blocking the door. And of course I forget to put the foot stand back in front of the door and then the damn cat gets that door bumping again. Geeze, you'd think i'd move the project huh? lol. Speaking of.

Is there soil in your project? He may want to dookie in it. Cats do strange things sometimes. My wife's himilayan was so finicky, he wouldn't shit in the litterbox because getting kitty litter in his hair paws freaked him out. So, he would shit and piss in the bathtub. So we got wise to that, and filled the bathtub up with water. Then later that night "Splash". Cat was all pissed off obviously, because he left a big pile of cat turd on the couch. After that, he became an outside cat, but started hanging at our neighbors place all the time, and would go in their house through their doggie door. Well, they said that he would come over and they would feed him canned food, and that he was shitting in the litterbox in their house. So, we let him live with them.
