Shittt, I had chem. last year but don't remember most of it. Wouldn't that just be something like...
FeC2H3O2 + (NH4)2CO3 = Fe2CO3 + NH4C2H3O2? I can't remember if that is a net ionic equation or not.

it's a net ionic equation, so you need to have the ions seperated, with thier charges... then omit the non important ions, usualy the products will form a (s), keep those. This is for titrations, you want to form a precipitate for seperation reasons. read the name slowly "NET, IONIC, EQUATION" what do those 3 words tell you?
Fe^2+ (aq) + 2CO3^1+(aq) = Fe2CO3 (s)
that's not right... but it'll look like that. Balance and check the charges and whatnot.. THIS IS WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO INCLUDE THE STATEs. Just get in the habbit of writing a lot.

The thing I hate, is this is all online...
There may be 3 questions to a section, but if you misplace one decimal point on the third question, you have to start over, and they change the questions all the time!
Plus, the notation is screwy...
Like, for Fe(II) I have to write Fe^2+^...And Subscripts are _1_ Like, Cl_2_.
Its so fucked, I cant get used to it. I'm so bad at chemistry...I may just pay someone to do my homework from here on out...

If I get a C in this class, it will be a miracle.
I'm about to give up on this homework. I'm only 3/4 of the way done, theres no way I'll finish by the time liimit, which is like, an hour away.

See, thats the thing. I'm okay with acid/base reactions, and electrolytes, and stuff.
But this NIE stuff just...I cant wrap my brain around it...

it took me a few days to get it down, i started on it, didnt get it, then came back to it, and it made perfect sence... it was a little wierd, cause i put no effort into it. like i said, you have to know the naming, the name tells you the formula.

Fe(CH3COO)2 (aq) + (NH4)2CO3 (aq) ---> FeCO3 (s) + 2 NH4CH3COO (aq)
Fe^2+ + 2 CH3COO^1- + 2 NH4^1+ + CO3^2- ---> FeCO3 + 2 NH4^1+ + 2 CH3COO^1-
Then you cancel off things that are common on both sides;
Fe^2+ + CO3^2- -> FeCO3 (s)
Note how the Iron (II) Carbonate isn't dissociated, since it is a percipitate. I used a solubility chart to figure this out.

You don't write out the "spectator ions" which are the compounds that don't actually change in the equation and/or the experiment. i.e. they don't form a solid or whatever.
I'm in General Chemistry I this semester, by the way. And it too, is kicking my ass. Mid-term exam next week, great.
