I've heard of using Rice Chex smashed up. Also yellow cornmeal works.

Look in the healthy foods section at the grocery store (rainbow foods, cub foods ). It wont be next to regular white flour.

get the brown rice. go out and get a coffee burr grinder.....they cost $24.99 or so. make your own brown rice flour.....much cheaper. Do not over heat the burr grinder.....they will burn out. make a little at a time....don't be in a rush. I have burned up 2 of them....lucky they had a good return policy!

I've used plain brown rice with a ramsey seal in 1/2 pint jars and it seemed to work fine. No vermiculite no other ingredients, just plain brown rice.

My...... friend used to use coffee grinders to grind things up. You cannot fit very much in there and they burn out quick though. If you get a blender for like $25 it will work just as good as the coffee grinder, but you can fit like a 1/2 gallon of stuff in there. My friend tried it with whole rye berries and it reduced it to almost complete powder in under a minute.

Just grind the brown rice in a coffee grinder, food processor, or blender. If you can get your hands on rye flour and it's easier than making your own BRF, then use it. Colonization is slightly slower with rye flour (from my experiences) but total yield is still the same.

How do you not get this? you just asked this in a 12 year old thread, now you are asking in one 2 months shy of 15 years!
Look up PF Tek and follow the instructions. That will answer all your questions.
I'll do you a favor. Google Let's grow mushrooms and download the video
