if you have access to em, peat pots IME are the easiest way to start seeds. Otherwise, just damp a paper towel down, fold it over, place seeds between the fold, and stick on top of a warm place. Check for the shell being broken and remoisten the towel as neccessary.

Jiffy-7 Peat Plugs
Most all garden centers have them.Lowes, Walmart, ect.
Or Amazon has a list of sites that have them. Or just use Google.

I hate peat plugs!
IMHO, and with my humidity levels, damping off is a serious concern.
I just think they are too easy to have too wet or they dry out too quickly.

Rockwool cubes are best for starting seeds in (although im yet to use jiffy pots). With rockwool cubes, you jus pop the seed in, keep moist, and once the roots get situated around, you jus drop the cube in a pot of dirt, or in a net pot for using hydro. If you must use papertowels, make sure that it doesnt dry out all the way, or the seeds can be damaged.

meh, i'm all for the natural approach! there's too much risk in hurting the tap root with the paper towel method or anything to makes you transfer the fragile sprout to soil later!
here's the best method for germinating MJ seeds IMHO (taken from Uncle Ben, one of OGs long time members. former )
Your plants will be alot better off if you germinate directly in the soil, less disturbance means less chance of physical damage to the plant's taproot and less food reserves used to orient itself due to normal gravitational influence (this a hormonal thingie called gravitropism).
Here's one of my methods for seed germination:
Sterilize enough soil with heat (240F for 20 mins in the oven or in the microwave) to germinate all of your seeds. This will insure that damp-off fungus spores have been killed in the soil mix. Make sure the soil mix is light and humusy. You can add a little sand or vermiculite to aid in drainage. Stay away from perlite, it has a nasty habit of floating out of the mix.
Get the white 20oz styrofoam "drinking glasses" and punch holes in the bottom for drainage, I use a red hot ice pick. These containers are 6 1/2" tall and will allow ample room for the taproot to grow upon emergence. I have been advising folks to use the 16oz size, which was a mistake, just looked and measured - they are 20oz "Styro Cups".
Fill the pots almost to the top with your mix, water well to settle, take a pencil and make a small hole about 1/4" to 1/2" deep, NO deeper, and drop *one* seed in. Cover the seed with soil, only enough to top up the hole, firm lightly with your finger, and lightly water.
Keep misted daily, at least initially, not allowing the top 1/2" to ever dry out, but also not to the point that the medium stays waterlogged which will invite rot. Do not mist once the plants emerge.
This method is pretty much foolproof. The plant will be ready to transplant in about 2 weeks, and will easily slip out of the "cup" with a solid rootball that will never know it's been disturbed if potted up gently and quickly. Move up to a final pot of 3 to 5 gallons to sex and finish. An effective transplant solution can be made using 1 teaspoon of a 15-30-15 fert and 10 drops of Superthrive per gallon of water. Take note regarding the immediate growth spurt after this transition!
Happy potting! Uncle Ben

did you even read what i posted?
you can "just pop" it into soil and that should be good enough (suprising isn't it?) but fundementally you should give it enough space and the right conditions, that's all there really is to it!
you don't HAVE to sterelize the soil and you don't HAVE to have the perfect soil mix just make sure your pot is big enough and the soil is well drained.
good luck

well i'm an ass ehhhh.... yeah it should work the same, keep the rockwool moist and warm and it should do the trick!
next time when you're looking for help regarding cannabis cultivation you should clearly state what your situation is, there are diffrent answers for diffrent setups and basically when growing indoors each setup is a little diffrent then the other!
good luck and have fun!

Ok, well there are millions of growers out there and millions of ways to start the seeds.
Here's what I've been doing.
Put seeds in a moist towel and place in a plastic baggie. Place that in my mushroom incubator or anyplace that can keep them at 85F. Soon as the seeds crack plant them pointed side down in some soil in a plastic cup (the pointed side down thing isn't very important. Put saran wrap over the cup to make a little greenhouse and you don't have to water and disturb the seed. Soon as the seeds breaks grown take off the saran wrap (so you don't promote rotting)
Two weeks later

I have to go with the water method. It always worked well for me in the past...
Drop seeds in shotglass (or small glass cup) of water. Wait a few days, checking waterlevel. Sinkers= dead seeds. Floaters= wait for root 1/4"
Plant....etc.
Peace
