I went and saw the new Time Machine movie last night on 4.5 grams, and since I had read the book, I felt like it was a sort of dysfunctional deja vu...like I knew what should be happening but it was only correct on the general level. The details were all wrong, since the story is based on a different premise this time round. Anyway, after it was over, we went back to my friends house and fired up his new imac...we spent literally hours listening to cool music and typing fucked up shit into simpletext and having it read it back to us with it's speech engine, and this is when I got a hell of an idea. I want to get a hold of the complete texts to some really cool novels, like The Time Machine, and paste them into the computer. Then I'll dose, lay on my bed in the dark, and have the computer read me the story in it's harsh synthetic whisper voice. What do you all think?

Is there something special about the program, or could you just get an audio book? audio books are neat... i dont like them, but they are neat.

I thought about audio books, but the thing about any synthetic speech engine is that it maintains this eerie constant vocal tone...real monotonous and kind of alien feeling, much more conducive to getting lost in the words. Also, you can buy ebooks online for extremely cheap. I just downloaded The Time Mahine in plain text format for $1.75.

That would be interesting, i always thought it would be cool to listen to farenheight 451 tripping. I'd give it a go. and o yea, with simple text, type "diddly diddly diddly diddly" over and over. It's the fuckin funniest thing ever.

There was a virus going around a few years back that would put this parrot on your desktop and it would sing: Day-ZEE Day-ZEE Give-me-your ans-er true. I'm HALF cray-ZEE all-for-the-love-of-you It wunt be a ... STY-lish marr-age. I cunt aff-ord a carr-age. But you'll look sweet ... upon that seat ... of a by-sick-le built ... for toooo. I call it a virus becuase you could not get rid of it, and it changes all your settings around and fucks up your computer so it doesn't work like it should. Then it wants you to fork over 20 bucks so it can "go to school to learn 20 new songs" or "learn 500 more jokes" Fuck Pedee, and fuck his gay gorrilla boyfreind that bonzaibuddy.com is currently pimping. ... It drove my people crazy when i'd leave the computer running with that on a loop with my speakers turned up and my door locked.
