Metal comes in many different forms. Don't define it by what you see on Headbangers Balls.

Dark Side of the Moon is the ultimate tripping album
-------------------- And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk ...four times already this year and I used to be over by the window and I could see the squirrels, and they were merry, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and its not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire.

My favorites to listen to while tripping are:
Shpongle - any shpongle albulm is awesome, but "Are you Shpongled?" is my top choice. Alot of the music is sort of tribal and it really gives me the sense of going on a msytical journey.
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon; I really enjoy this album while i'm tripping. There are parts that get a little annoying while you are tripping though.
I know that those are both examples that are given alot but I can't seem to pull myself away from them. Especially "are your shpongled?" I listen to it EVERY time I trip. I love it and I don't think anything will ever replace it.

I can´t believe none recommended classical music as the best music ever to trip. Most of the groups and songs you guys mention are way to synthetic sounding for me, I don´t want to hear the sound produced by computers, circuits and electronics, but that of real vibrating air. Grof and other researchers used high quality classical music without recognizable vocals which could influence the character of the experience as the best sound to carry the experience

"The In Sound from Way Out" by the Beastie Boys is a good cd for some mellow tripping.

I like classical while Im tripping, mostly pachabel or however its spelt, actually Bach has a mathematical structure that really adds to CEV's while you are tripping, kinda the way The Flaming lips add to my CEV's... god I love the flaming lips.

Its true, it is perfect for tripping. Its a bit to streight forward for my likeing. A bit too "square", symetrical, you know.
Also, electronic music is just music, vibrations, same thing in a way.
I personally like music with no lyrics aswell though. So I usually listen to jazz, or jazz funk. Either that or ravi shankar, anushka, Kamalesh Maitra, etc.(highly recommended by myself atleast).
The only times I will deviate from this blue print of tripping music is Medeski martin and wood, or some nice live phish mix.

That albums just fuckin wierd, you'd think orbital and the orb would be great for tripping, but with all their albums I have to select only a couple songs from each to trip too. But then again I loved the industry album by dom and roland whilst tripping. Really dark, and is more industrial sounding than the genre itself.
Gotta say the chemical bros is fantastic, havnt tried they new album, but dig your own hole and surrender are really good. Plus pendulem's hold your colour is surprisingly good for dnb tripping too.

That album freaks me out a little too much when tripping, but I still love to play it to scare others.
But Mr. Bungle is PERFERCT trip music. Dont forget these albums:
Mr. Bungle (self titled) California Goddamnit I Love America
