 DMT flashback, bad dream, or alien invasion?

The weirdest thing happened to me last night. I had just gone to sleep a few hours earlier (I was in a pretty deep sleep at this point) when I was suddenly awakened by the strangest noise I have ever heard. It sounded computer-generated of some sort (it wasn't natural) and extremely loud. It lasted about 5 seconds then I heard some residual rumbles of thunder (apparently there was a thunderstorm in the area). I sat up in bed scared absolutely shitless. I had three initial thoughts at once. One was of DMT. I have no idea why I thought of DMT at this time but for some reason the strange noise was incredibly reminscent of the hyperspatial experience of DMT. I also though of some kind of alien invasion because I couldn't imagine any man-made thing that could make this sound. Then I though of nuclear holocaust. I looked out the window and saw nothing but rain and a few distance flashes of lightning. My nerves were so on end that all I could do is curl up in a little ball for an hour before I could calm myself down to fall back asleep.
I talked to my neighbors this morning and they said there was a thunderstorm but nothing resembling the noise I heard. Maybe this noise was just lightning but in my half-dreaming state I thought it was something else. I have no idea. But whatever it was I am still kind of shaken now.

Very interesting, but I can't really say what might of happened
You'll have to see what happens tonight when you go to sleep -- but i won't be suprised if nothing happend anymore. See some people might say that the sound scared you -- but maybe their was something else going on. I dunno if you'll ever really know
I've heard people say that aliens come during electirical storms....
I killed my cat in my dream last night when I knocked my bed over and it fell on top of him. I picked the bed up and he just layed their having seizers all over the floor-- I kept yelling for someone to get an ambulence -- I've never brokedown crying that hard even when I was awake.

Wow... sounds pretty similar to stuff in True Hallucinations by Terrence McKenna. Have you read any of that? Have you done dmt recently?

do you have a battery backup (UPS)? when the power goes out, those things will beep pretty loud and constantly till it goes back on

Was it by any chance a VERY loud and high pitched whining that seemed to come from the very air inside your ears?
My guess is that you were perhaps in the beginning stages of an astral projection..that kind of "astral noise" is quite familiar to me.

I haven't read True Hallucinations (although I've read a lot of other McKenna). The one and only time I've done DMT was a month and a half ago.
No, it wasn't really a high pitch whining. The closest thing I can compare it to is part of the sound a modem makes when its connecting to the internet, although it was a deeper pitch, MUCH louder, and it sounded like it was coming from outside.
Oh well, thanks for the comments. Tonight might be an adventure but I doubt it'll happen again.
Another funny thing is after I finally went back to sleep all I drempt of was ordinary-life explanations of what the noise was. It was like my subconscious couldn't possibly accept it so it tried to reason around it.

I've eard it before, it makes a loud "peeeeee" but not exactly inside your ears more like inside you head.
Say Revelation, can this astral projection afect you phisicaly ?
It has hapened to me several times while i'm sleeping so it's accidental and never induced by my consciousness, the most "frightening" was my first experience 4 years ago, i was resting in my "first sleep" then sudently i find my self floating right above my body and looking arround, i could see the image on the TV and my girlfriend layed right next to me watching it, i can't remember how much time i was on this state but not very long i think, i only remember feeling a bit worried about the situation but not really preocupied, then in a second i felt sucked into my body through my chin, i slowlly awoke with that pitched whining inside my head that disapeared rapidly, i standed up, went to take piss and felt to sleep shortly after.
Now, what make this history frightning (as i had similar after) and unique to me is that on the morning after i took a look to my self on the mirror and i had a full white discoloration (my hairs are brown) on a 3cm portion of my chin beard, circle shaped wich completly fade way after 6 or 7 months. Do you have any info about this kind of phenomena , what do you think ?

This is exactly the type of conclusion jumping that disturbs me. Your inability to categorize a sound leads you to believe in the possibility that another race of creatures from a far away star system entered your house and made that sound.
That explanation would have NEVER occurred to me.

the pineal gland produces endogenous DMT. during sleep it's been show to rise in levels, often one can wake up during on of these "spikes" and reality is a bit more vivid...

ever heard of William Blake? he was one of the few organic trippers--didn't even need shrooms... his head was tripping at age 3... related? i dunno :P but he did have some sort of chemical imbalance and became one of the greatest poets...

no idea about the noise but i can understand your terror.
once, i was vacuuming my house and this powerful squeal started building up.
i live near a military base and assumed it was another helicopter, but it kept getting louder until it was deafening. i thought something was gonna blow so i ran around unplugging everything, still going and getting stronger. the windows were vibrating and making a strange buzzing sound.
i was fucking panicking....earthquake? (this is japan) invasion? ( but i thought it to be chinese or korean) the end of time? my mind was grabbing at anything trying to work it out, as i ran around looking for the source. then i spotted my guitar, its battery operated with an amp and speaker built into the shell, i had accidently flicked it on while i was vacuuming. naturally it was turned up to 10 and was going into full feedback mode ala jimi hendrix, hence getting louder and louder.
totally stupid i know, but i'm waiting for the right moment when ive got a group of idiots in the house and i want them to leave.

Swami - I said that's one of the first things to come to my mind in my half-dreaming, panicked with fear state. I didn't say that's what I believed it was. I have no idea what it was, nor could I ever make a definite determination. It was more of a joke to illustrate my complete and utter bewilderment as to what had just happened to me.
And there's nothing wrong with speculation as long as you don't let it run away with you.

I'd file that under "Annoying People Repellant (Non-corrosive)".
If you could make a small feedback device, it could be placed in your car, in a bar, at school, on the bus, on the subway, the possibilities are endless...
I'd buy one if it could fit into a normal-to-small size backpack (and if it wasn't too heavy). Patent it and sell it on late-night tv infomercials... The amazingly small, yet powerful "Fukoffsky Device"- or something like that.
