Ganoderma mushroom?

This pretty much looks like a golden colored reishi. I found it (along with others) growing on dead trees which i think were alder.
They have a smooth golden top with a leather type feel to it and a rubbery white bottom.
Location - UK

Thats the Razor Strop Fungus (Piptoporus betulinus). They were once used for sharpening razors, as pin-cushions or sliced as cork. It has an antiseptic quality and the top of a fresh bracket can be peeled back and a strip made into a temporary plaster to put on a wound :smile:

A very common bracket fungi normally found growing on Birch.
