How can sugar or sweets stop the buzz?

When i was in Holland some years ago, i went to one Smart Shop to buy shroomz.
The girls, who run this shop, gave me some brief instructions on tripping.
One of their advices was that i should not drink any alcohol 2 hrs before the trip and also when tripping. And they told me not to eat/drink anything sweet some hours before the trip- sugar, candies, chocolate, coke etc. They said sugar will destroy the psyloc. and will bring me back to sober state.
I personally tried taking sweets/sugar once or twice during the shroom trip. And still i'm under idea that it works.. Any comments/suggestions from veterans on that? Is there any simple methods to neutralize the buzz during the trip?
Thanx,
Partysan

Actually I don't believe sugar kills a trip.
I like to eat sweets during the come on and it never has affected any of my trips to a noticable degree. Also the aztecs ate the mushrooms with honey. And chocolate even is a weak MAOI according to Terence McKenna Land. It could still work as a placebo however: when you strongly believe it will help kill the trip it might just work to some degree.
The same for vitamin C which in high doses also is said to stop a trip. I've read about people that actually like to drink some orange juice while consuming shrooms, with no noticable effects. And I've yet to come across a scientific paper that explains how vitamin C would affect psilocin or psilocybin or the way they interact with the brain.
I however still have some vitamin C pills ready when tripping. I'm not sure whether it'll work or not but when you start to have a bad trip you might just prevent that with the psychological effect from having everything under control because you still have a way to abort the trip.

Vit. C is probably a good idea... I think the orange juice (even in vast amounts) contains less vitamin than a single pill.
Hmmmm, and maybe you're right about "placebo", though i failed to find this word in my dictionary! My first trip was in Holland. You know, Dutch commercial cultivar grow a top-grade stuff there. So, i bought the shroomz (Mexican) from those ladies and they told that sugar affects the buzz. Well, i took them and about in an hour i felt bzzzzzzzzzz. I smoked some herbs, that legally available in Holland and then tripped for about an hour. It was already midnight and i decided to sleep, cause next morning i had an early meeting. I tried to sleep, but there were two of me talking in my head - they were argueing and stuff... So i think it took another hour of listening to my both egos. Then i decided to cancel it - luckily there were 2 candies with crystals of sugar on it left in my room by the hotel maid. Ok, i ate them and soon i fell asleep. Normally the trip takes at least 4 hours. I thought i stopped it after 2 by eating those candies.

"You know, Dutch commercial cultivar grow a top-grade stuff there. "
I know, I live in the Netherlands
The reason for my crappy english actually... with placebo effect I was referring to experiments with medication: some people are given the real medicine, some people a fake pill without knowing whether they took the fake pill or the real medicin. Because you can feel yourself physically better when you're convinced you took a medicin. Just like I think you are able to stop a trip when you take something that you believe is capable of stopping a trip.
hope I made myself clear on that placebo thing
Anyway, also tried sleeping once while I was still tripping. Had the same problem: too many thought running trough my head. Listening to some music helped me to divert my thoughts and soon I fell asleep. In a way I think the same thing happened to you: by eating those candies you were convinced they would stop the trip so that you would be able to sleep. You stopped paying attention to the voices and voila: you fell asleep.... but I don't think you stopped tripping in fact, you just imagined you stopped tripping which for you at that moment is just as real.
ah well, that's just my theory.
many people won't agree with me and it doesn't matter that much actually. When you believe it works, good for you. Believing that will make it actually work. Don't let me ruin that believe because at least you still have something to stop a bad trip... I have these vitamin C pills for just in case, but I doubt myself whether they really work which in turn probably will ruin the psychological effect.
