Ak! So what do you do when you have a large tupperware of colonized straw that has been recased due to contamn which came back again! It looks like I could probably fruit it because I keep spraying the "mold" with h202 and water and it dies away temporaroly while the mycilium seems to be growing fine. I want to stress that fact that the contamn seems isolated to the very top portion of part of the casing layer... there are aobut 4.5 inches of pure yummy clean mycilium underneath. Would these fruits be safe? should I case again!? is this because I sterilized the 50/50+?

normally, most folks would tell you that you're screwed. green mold is just about the worst, it nearly always comes back and kills the colony. so you're in a bad situation, and peroxide just won't cut it. so i'm going to give you a radical new method i've been working on. i can't guarantee it will save you, but it will give you a fighting chance. i want you to take some ordinary household bleach, the real kind, which should contain only sodium hypochoride. now sodium hypochloride is one of the world's best disinfectants, it's used to purify all our drinking water, even nasa uses it to disinfect space craft. now take and mix your bleach with 100x water, that is 1 cc of bleach per 100 ml of water. then use it to spray the shiznit out of your infected casing. it'll kill all germs, molds, mildews, etc. but it won't harm your mycellia, and better yet, it breaks down into table salt, water and oxygen, no harmful byproducts. give it a try, what else have you got to lose ?

Let us know how it works, too. I've tossed a couple of nice casings at the first hint of green. With the larger ones, it might be worth the extra affort to save them, if people are getting good results with this method.
