Hey sheepish , try checking under Roadadenuim( how it sounds ,not spelt) bushes ,especially if it's got bark chips under then .Thats where i found my mushs last season near rotorua . Can any one tell me of a lawn varity mushroom , thats a aqua green color ,with the older ones appear to be a tan color that have aqua green gill,in the manawatu. Also another one currently popping up thats a orangish cap, light yellow stem, with a fibris white stem flesh ,that turns black (whole mushroom) after picking within 3mins. later

I've been looking in a forest that has a lot of decaying wood. I saw a shitload of Aminatas but not much else.

im going out tommorrow most probably, riverhead is dead... theyve chopped down too many trees, destroying the most fertile ground ive ever seen, b4 it was well known, you could take hundreds of aucklandii away with you.... im going to try out woodhill... although when i went last week without a map, everywhere was covered with mountain bikers ARRGGGHHH... and i had no luck
on an aside, has anyone had any success with cultivating these using spore prints obtained from the wild? Indoor or outdoor? to the person who wanted to know the potency of aucklandii..... they have been rated 5th most potent out of 186 species, definitely a lot stronger than cubensis..

Thats interesting stuff! You guys are lucky! In one forest a botanist found five unknown psilocybe species - four of which stained blue to varying levels. So there is a lot left to discover in NZ!! I would love a print of any of your natives - preferably Aucklandi or Australiana if you can find those. All woodlovers found in Australia and NZ are highly potent - similar in potency from what i have been told by a Canadian friend as Ps.Cyanescens. You also have Ps.Semilanceata in NZ - the first mushroom i ever experienced while on holiday in the south island!

Hello, another New Zealander here. I'm trying to get into growing - I've ordered some spores from the U.S (Sporeworks). Have other new zealanders successfully imported spores? Do customs confiscate them? Should they take long to arrive? Is it easy to find wild psilocybes in the canterbury region?
Thanks for your help, Zeta.

Hope you get the spores. Don't know how NZ customs will react, but they shouldn't confiscate them. Spores aren't illegal here, I think.

it is too easy to find them in the canterbury region... at canterbury university, they grow everywhere in the wintertime, and the caretakers get up early to put dirt on them so the students won't find 'em.... this has a poor success rate however. your mail might be sterilised when it arrives, just a random thing ... im not 100% about this though, i was just told by someone

i've seen them at kmart, $200 new. but I reckon your best bet is to find one second hand, try second hand shops or cash converters, or www.trademe.co.nz or www.buy-sell-exchange.co.nz nobody cooks with them any more so there are a few for sale around the place. i got mine second hand for $10 from some old woman.. she kept telling me how i could make stews and soups and roasts. thanks ma'am. i just hope it works.

Customs isn't the problem, quarantine is. If they catch you importing spores of any kind they could hand out some really hefty fines. I've gotten seeds past them before tho, so I doubt a sporeprint would be much of a problem.
I ordered from MMA in Oz seven months ago and I'm still waiting...I think the second coming of Christ will arrive before my order does, especially dissapointing given I'm an atheist. How generous are ye feeling, atoning unifex?

I'm considering another hunt tomorrow. Wish me luck. The weather ruined my weekend, but I guess it's the perfect environment for shrooms

Yeah, I live in Auckland. Didn't have any luck at Woodhill last time. Saw lots of shrooms, but really don't know what they are. Didn't look active.

Trust me spores are not a problem with quarantine and at the end of the day they are not illegal either. In Australia i often get cultures confiscated and nasty letters but thats the extent of it. MMA is history! Ive been told that we;ve seen the last of them - if your after cubensis then let me know and hi to Deepr!!
