How hot do pressure cookers get?
    #611163 - 04/17/02 06:25 PM (21 years, 10 months ago)

Ballpark average, when your cooking at 15psi how hot is it inside?
The reason I ask is because I just got a real nice meat thermomiter, its got an electronic display for outside the oven and a long heat resistant cord and probe for inside.
I will be doing a temprature test in 5 microwaves (more if I can find others to use) using PF Tek for material. I wonder just how close the two actualy are temprature wise?

Very.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. Opps, that?s not quite correct.

The temperature of boiling water at 15 PSI(30PSI gauge) is 250?F =121 ?C .

Anno is correct (the above statement), as usual.

Remember though, it is the steam which has great thermal transfer properties, that does the work. If you cook something at 121 ?C in your oven, it will not work anywhere near as well. Dry heat sterilization take a higher temperature and a much (3x-4x) longer cook time.
