should i get a cool mist or a warm mist humidifier because local kmart is going out of business so everything is on sale!!!
i was gunna get a 2.5 gallon one (smallest they have) but which is better cool or warm mist . . . .

cool mist, warm mists are no good unless you have a baby with bronchitis

what kind should i get and how come they work . .wouldnt it b better than fanning and misting all day?

I was wondering the same thing actually. i have just purchased a 2.5 gallon cool mist humidifior that only has 2 setting. Quiet and Hi Mode. It seems to me like watered air but it was cold. How to i adapt this humidifior to my terranium. Do i counter the cool air with the warm air from my space heater?? BTW, i'm going to be posting pictures hopefully by tommorow morning. The jars are almost fully colonized and i would appreciate some good advice from everyone on the site.

dude, its not an air conditioner. it cant make the air any cooler than it already is. likely it will only heat it up from the heat of the motor :smile:

I Would recommend against the wick style systems
i have seen nothing but bad luck with the 2 ive had.

i want to get one of the mist ones that draws the water up a spinning column, then sends it out through a featherboard style thing and out the spout.

This is my cool mist humidifior i bought. It only has 2 settings as i said before. quiet mode and hi mode. I can't control the humidity on it but it says it can humidify an area of 900 sq ft. it has a 2.5 gallon tank. I

I plan on putting funnel upside down on this and taping it down. Then , transfering it through a T to 2 different terraniums i have set up.

If there is any advice you guys could give me regarding the humidifior and how to regulate the temperature in my terranium with it, it would be much appreciated

Yeah, that fan looks like about an 8" fan. go get a piece of 8" stove pipe, or 8" pvc, and run it out the top, then cap it. then get some other 1 1/4" pvc and hook it into the sides of it, and have these going out to your bins.
