Cobweb elimination
    #610929 - 04/17/02 03:40 PM (14 years, 7 months ago)

I have cobweb on a casing. I need to eliminate it fast. How do I do this?

I remeber a couple of solutions. Such as increased light and air circulation. I have implemented those. What other fixes are there? I have thought of making a baking soda spray and spraying. Please help.

I didn't have time to search earlier. I just searched and found some suggestions.

Increase air exchange
Increase light to 24/7
Raise pH (baking soda works, maybe a sol'n of soda/water?)
Application of at most %3 H2O2 sol'n

If anyone has any other solutions please add them to this post.

The only thing to add is the obvious, dig/scrape as much of it away as you can see, and a bit more, prior to applications of h2o2 and soda.

Good luck

I wanted to update everyone. I removed the casing layer, sprayed thoroughly w/ peroxide. I have been observing the substrate very closely, I have not seen any sign of contams for two days now. I think I have beat the coweb.

Yipee!!

My friend had always chucked cobweb casings, but this last time she tried to fight it. She won the fight, but the yields were much less than normal. If you have more substrate ready to be cased, my friend wouldn't bother with the salvage operation. If you don't have more ready, you should probably continue on as is.

This casing had cobweb and trichoderma. I won the battle.
