$$$ - What do you consider a good investment at the moment?

What do you at the moment consider a good investment? Inflation and taxes fight for your wallet, what's a guy to do? Lets talk about good investments for modest but important amounts of money.
Warning: don't get too carried away with what you may read - these are opinions, not rocksolid truths.

I'm investing $2500 in a record label that's starting up, they already have signed some artists, so hopefully it pays off. I'll be buying .25% of the company, I wish I had more money.
I'm also going to start up an IRA fund.
I was actually going to start a thread on this earlier, I need some ideas because I want to start investing. HELP ME GET RICH GUYS!

First a small word on inflation and the need to do something:
In firstworld countries like the USA and Europe, inflation tends to hover around 2.5% In developing nations it is most often a manyfold thereof.
Lets say 2006-2016 will have a constant 2.5% inflation where you live.
If you have $1.000 and put it in a drawer until 2010, you will find the value of your money has gone down to $900, and in 2016 it can even be as little as $800 or less. one or two $100 bills have gone missing!
Say you put the $1.000 on a savings account, lets say 2% interest, and in 2016 you come to withdraw. You find out that the savings account indeed made your $1.000 into $1.200, but when you take inflation in account, you find that the value of what you now have is $950 of the 1.000 it was. You still lost fifty bucks.
This is why your savings account which you may have right now is NOT cutting it: unless you're over 2.5% interest (in the USA), you're still losing money every day and at 2.5% interest your money still is only stationary.
We in holland had a rather bad year which hit us out of the blue (or rather the Euro) with a 6% inflation year. If you lived here, that one year took $60 from your 1.000, and would set you back $35 even IF you had it all on a 2.5% interest savings account.
Obviously, something has to be done.
In the developing world it is even worse, with quite often $100-$900 of your $1.000 departing every year, one of the reasons the developing world has to struggle so hard.
A chatting friend of mine lives in a 20% inflation economy. He is relatively wealthy, but what does wealth mean if you loose 1/5 of it every year to your shitty currency?

At the moment I'm researching precious metals.
Look up the quality investment thread called
is worth $25.000, as these are currently $600 apiece. It is not impossible that they'll be $800 apiece soon.
So far I looked into gold and silver, both show promise.

a peace of land in the sticks
knowledge on farming/ building etc.
my idea is educate myself, learn trades with my hands. But not like Union stuff. Carpentry, welding, and so on. learning alternative building.
Pretty much what job i do now doesn't matter. But i need to continue my education by going to workshops and such. Maybe sit in on some college courses just for the class not the credits. general knowledge and understanding of many things.
Good investment is tools, with that you can build what you need or what others around you need.
good communication skills.
good money habits
self control faith
a good credit score!

I'm afraid you're not far from eating those words. As I see it an economic decline of the US is likely, which is part of why I think gold will go up.

I graduated from Music Industry Arts. I'm no longer looking to start a career in the music industry due to the fact there's no longer real money in the industry. What kind of contracts is the record label signing? People no longer buy records therefor Record labels look for other way to make revenue for exmp, Shows,Clothing line,Commercials, Ft for other artist and so on. The only way those examples would work is if the Artist already has a big fan base or "famous". I wish nothing but the best for you and I hope you see a ROI but I personally would not invest in the Music Industry.

How do those words taste, asante? The euro has declined while the dollar is up and gold is down.

Its hard to predict the time, we do know that gold will outsihine both the dollar and the euro though. All fiat currencies go to zero, they are a human invention with artificial scarcity. Gold is invented and rendered scarce by the universe.

http://chrisryanphd.com/tangentially-speaking/2015/5/31/127-john-kim-investment-guru
this was an eye opener since im 90% dividends that are in all satanic sectors I'm losing money but the point is main stream says dividends are oversold so maybe i can rallei a couple hundred bucks for having 10k in high risk bank funds for 2 months. [edited- before Pulling out] lol
i plan to just keep 1k in each dividend through the bank and then to manage the other 9k on my own, i can try this for the summer as i have a fixed job. that will produce around 5k in 3 months. I want to ask a question about financing and saving. I will ask here as investing in myself I need to get a truck and possibly a property with salvageable stones, to build dry stack walls. this would mean 100.000$ mortgage. I have 1/10th of that in the bank but I would finance 100% regardless with as much down as I can come up with when the time comes but not from my savings. the profit margin for beautiful hand crafted dry stack wall is nearly pure profit as i wouldn't employ anyone else, and I already have tools to begin. essentially I want to start making money this way: i could make payments across the board with the income i have now but that could last only for a couple months anyone ahve advice here even for the sake of investing under my control. I can read a book a week.

I love to argue with you, asante, but in this case you are correct. Not just gold but silver, land, and commodities in general. They aren't making any more land these days, metals are getting harder to mine, and food is getting scarcer. The only thing there is no shortage of is fiat money. Europe is looking for a place to fall down, usa is getting weaker, japan is on the ropes, Russia is getting more and more desperate, south America is not doing well.
Trav, you are going to buy bare land and build a house with rocks you find on the land? Have you ever built a house? Ever built anything out of rocks?
