Casing Question

I have a question about 50/50+ tek, some people say the bottom layer should be dry vermiculite, and some people say it should be damp (water added) vermiculite... what do you use?

I just use the same mix as on the top of the casing.

damp- remember, by casing you're rehydrating the cakes with the damp layer(s). so in my opinion if you are going to use a bottom layer might as well make it moist too.

I agree - I have some casings with and some without (Jiffy Mix + oyster shell casing mix, that is). Same chamber (but 2 dif strains - eq & maz), same size casings, same amount of substrate, The tray with bottom casing seems to be in better shape after 2nd flush. Not enough experience to be sure, but I am doing a bottom layer on everything right now.
