Ringless Honeys, Reishis, Puffballs, and Hypholoma (LOTS of PICS)

This is sort of a continuation of my last post regarding Phaeocollybia. The first three pictures pertain to the possible phaeocollybia. (Edit: this has since been determined hypholoma)

They're growing in extremely large clusters...

(edit: white spore print, ringless honey mushrooms)...

These two are some reishi and turkey tails inhabiting a stump...

Lastly, some puffballs...

...I have more pics of all of these species, but will have to wait due to upload limits.

Very nice imagery, I enjoyed it!
Those phaeolcollybias are interesting, I'm not aware of a similar species occuring in Europe. Allegedly, there are only about six species in the genus phaeocollybia present in this region, none of them resembling your finds. What makes you certain that you don't have some ordinary sulphur tufts there? The spore print doesn't look really dense enough to make a good distinction and the general appearance matches hypholoma fasciculare or psilocybe capnoides quite well.
Nice finds!

Hey thanks for the reply. I'm open to suggestions on the species phaeocollybia. That was just my first guess as was started in this thread http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/6095436/an/0/page/0
I'm actually not convinced myself because the spore print doesn't exactly represent rust to me. It is actually more reminescent of classic psilocybe type print in color to me. I will have to look into the species you've mentioned.

I looked up psilocybe capnoids and came up with only European websites. I am in Indiana, but noticed that Hypholoma Capnoids is native and looks similar in appearance. Are these two mushroom names interchangeable? Here's a pic I found on the net of the hypholoma http://www.pilzkunde-ruhr.de/big/hypholoma_capnoides.jpg
Something about them seemed very psilocybe like to me at first. I think the gills and the general shape of the mushroom reminded me of some of the ps. weilii I've seen.

They are the same. Some Psilocybes got shifted over to Hypholoma, including sulfur tufts and capnoides. The common name for Hypholoma capnoides is the Brick Cap Psilocybe.

Thanks, good to know. I'm guessing this is Hypholoma capnoids rather than the sulfur tuft (Hypholoma fasciculare) because the gills do not show greenish to me. However, the picture of the sulfur tuft in google image brings up many clusters that look like these. I do feel more confident with the general hypholoma ID due to my initial psilocybe type instincts and the purple brown print.

The general 'psilocybe'-look is actually what made me ask the questions I did in my post above, so I suppose we agree on that :P Is there a chance of you tasting a tiny bit of those mushrooms? Hypholoma fasciculare will have an extremely bitter aftertaste, while hypholoma/psilocybe capnoides will have a more pleasant, mushroomy taste.

Looks like I've probably got Hypholoma fasciculare, that was extremely bitter and not a pleasant taste in the least. The weird thing is, is I don't really see the green in the gills that is supposed to be a determining characteristic for this species.

I found tons of Armillaria this year, and different kinds of galerina. I didnt eat any, I've still got a refridgerator full of wild fungi of all sorts.

Yeah man, there are A LOT of ringless honey mushrooms around here. I have no plans for eating them since I seem to be one of these people that experience the stomach side effects of mushrooms that are said to be edible.

Perhaps you only had a few older specimens. The gills on h. fasciculare turn very dark as they age.
