There is a ton of info about growing outdoors but they all seem a bit riskey is there a way to grow outdoors without a bunch of problems? My concern about growing out doors is bugs they take over if they can indoors so wouldent they do the same out side because some feed on the mycelium they smell it then eat it ruining the crop how can this be avoided. how and what should i do to make a bed easy(an out door tek like what pf is for indoors). Should it be covered and how can it be made so that would be theives or noisy neighbors will not notice it? From what I have read about outdoor teks it seems you just put em out there and they grow but in reality it seems bugs, animals etc would tear it up. Any expert advice or tips on how to have a super outdoor crop free of hassle(or only a little)that has a 90% or so success rate? one more thing what type of mushrooms would best outdoors in a wooded area in the ny,nj area?

Outdoors is waaaay too easy. You'll barely run into any problems. Infact, you don't have to even take care of the misting and fanning as much, probably once every three days is fine. Just have a bit more patience though. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Pictures&Number=604989&page=1&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart= Results shown of an indoor colonized, outdoor fruited technique.

I'll tell you a story. There were 3 casings kept indoors for about 60 days. I believe they were kept so long w/out contam because of the h202+h20 mix used to mist them often. They started to take on green mold. The casings were placed in a hole under a tree, not even burried. There they remained through thunderstorms and 60-96 ferenheight temps. They now produce dense and dark fruits. B+

dude, please don't resurrect 5-year-old non-advanced threads
burying old 'spent' mycelium outdoors is indeed the easiest way to go.
