PR's on Straw

I'm planning to try some Puerto Ricans on straw and I've got a few quick questions. First off I've already had experience with the MMGG and a couple of kits that come with spawn and a bag of straw etc. I've read the FAQ's but I'd lie some personal opinions. So with that said here are the Q's.

1) Recomendations for Casing recipies and experiences
2) General thoughts on Puerto Ricans
3) Spawn to straw ratio
4) What should I be careful of when I go to buy my wheat straw.

1) Ive found through the shroomery and through personal experience a mixture of coir/verm/oyestershells or lime/peat is the best way to go. Straight coir has even worked wonders for me.

2) No personal experience with PR's but Ive heard quite abit about them. One, being extremely quick colonizers, and realitivley hard to get a nice pinset on. They are nutorious for overlay on casings, but is quite normal for them. Check out Joshua's post in the Pictures forum. He makes a good point about colonizing the substrate, adding a casing layer, and then just throwing them directy into fruiting.

Also, they have been said to be quite potent as well.

3) Not very much at all. Spawn can go a long way.

4) Just make sure you ask for wheat straw. They wont ask you what its for, if thats what your scared about. And if they do just say its for your horse. :smile:
