The secret Lexus graveyard

Why don't you ever see old Lexuses or Infinitis on the road? Every one I see is no more than five years old. I understand that people who can afford luxury vehicles are much more likely to buy a new car more often, but what happens to them when they get rid of them? You just don't see Lexus beaters anywhere. They must still be fairly sound mechanically after five or so years, so why is nobody driving them? Do rich people have their vehicles destroyed when they're finished with them? Is there a secret Lexus graveyard?

I see them all over the place. More early 90's Lexus LS400's than anything. After all, it was their first model.
Infiniti not so much, but they are still out there. Infinity started off with much lower sales numbers than Lexus, so it makes sense.

Lexuses probably don't look old even when they are. People take care of them well, and they're pretty dependable mechanically.

I still see plenty of 90's lexus cars.
Perhaps you don't realize it when you see an old lexus because it's still in good condition and looks new?

Honda makes very reliable cars. I spent a semester of college working on a guy's acura integra... the thing really didn't even need the maintenance that we gave to it. It had a lot of miles on it, had been through a lot of neglect, and was still in fine condition.

Nissan makes a better overall car than anyone on the market, now and then. The Lexus's that you forseek are limited in number in the early 90's and mid 80's. If you find one you are lucky to find them. The newer Lexus models are paid a premium to the insurance companies, because the body shop or junk yard know that they can flip a dollar on any of the models, even the ES series.

I miss our old Lexus. It was a white 1991 LS400 that we got rid of LAST YEAR.

Funny, I spent a summer working on a friends Acura Integra... At 120k miles it decided to eat the clutch master and slave cylinder, at 125k it ate a head gasket, and finally at 135k it spun a main bearing.
My 89 Honda Prelude faired a similar fate at roughly the same mileage.
Ah well, at least I can always rely on my trusty 98 Oldsmobile Intrigue with 195k miles on the clock. The only two parts that failed on that car was a corroded battery cable and a serpentine tensioner pulley that decided to suck part of itself into it's own bearing.
Go GM... I know it sounds weird, but of all the vehicles my family and I have owned, the most reliable hands down have been GM products.

I base it upon personal experience. Either the cars I have owned and driven, my families, or the vehicles that I have worked on.
Quality wise GM is just now catching up to the rest of the industry, but there is something to be said for rock solid, tried and true, low tech, simplicity.
But I fear I've gone off on a tangent here. Lets get back to talking about Infiniti and Lexii.

I have driven the shit out of my Nissan's and they do not give me problems. The only problems I have from my Nissan's were wrecking while bad weather conditions. I have had nitrous on a both and a turbocharger on one and overboosted a couple times and it handled like a champ.
I say go Nissan! Nothing can compete with them.....they have the most hearty motors in the industry and have won the most "races"(all challenges) ever.
