Okay... lets discuss my experience to its fullest... I am a spore girl with rye for casing or BRF cakes only. I have made spore syringes before with no issue, and found them to be viable. Since I dropped my little hobby for awhile *like 3 years, and only recently picked it back up for giggles* I am restarting with these PRs. I have contemplated making some LCs as I have recently learned how *THANK YOU SHROOMERY! * SO, if anyone out there would care to hold my hand and walk me through this stuff, I have NO problem trying something new and learning. PLUS, I am game for passing the info along to others who need it. I AM SOOOO excited by this forum. I used to read it when I grew years ago, but I simply never posted due to paranoia. HOWEVER... I will happily try and cultivate a LC of the PRs if thats preferable for trade

heres some PR that were bag grown, what appears to be substrate is actualy a mushroom that the pins are growing from, look carefully and you can see the shape under all the pins, it was kinda disturbing at first, I was pleased with the results, all the results

Man, that is a pretty weak pinset for cakes. Can PR get better pinsets, or am I just growing a shitty strain?
Are GT's better fruiters than B+?

Well, thanks for looking out for me. It's always nice to have a girlfriend who cares about your well-being. However, it's probably not a good idea to post about anything involving cultivation of mushrooms.
Also, my signature will tell you; anything I post is absolute bull shit. I don't grow mushrooms; it's all a big joke!

So, is this seen in other strains as well. or is this a PR oddity?

Also, what is the typical time in the fruiting chamber before the little cauliflower lumps turn to pins?? And, could this be a humidity problem?

I have a Puerto Rican syringe from Spores101 that I just bought, but have just decided after reading this post, that I don't want to bother trying with it, I'm only on my first grow(using a PF strain) at the moment and have a feeling I would end up wasting the PR syringe and screw up. I figure its not the right time yet to try Puerto Ricans if I don't even know if I'm able to produce fruit from the PF tek cakes. Soooo.....if anyone is willing to trade, I would like B+ or GT. PM me or just reply.

Also... what is optimum temp for the PRs to pin and fruit? Surely it has to be a bit higher than average... Puerto Rico is a pretty warm place... I dunno. I'm sitting at around 78-80 right now...

I could hook it up with a print of B+ if you want to wait about a week. The second flush is on its way, so I could go ahead and make you up a print. Just PM me in a week.
As for trying to grow PR; it seems that it would work fine for cakes, but casings is just absurd.
I figured I would post this and some experienced grower would explain that it is MY fault this is happening. Oh well, fuck Puerto Rican.

I might be up for a print, although I've never made a syringe from a print before....is it hard? What do I have to do? how many syringes could a print fill? Just some newb questions, sorry if its annoying. I'll let you know in a week if I remember.

When I make syringes I typically do it straight from the mushroom cap by placing the whole cap in a cooled sterilized jar for a few hours to overnight, then I come in and quickly retrieve it from the jar with clean hands. Inject appoximately 150 ccs of freshly opened distilled water, and suck it all up in syringes that were also sterilized *I put mine in sterile pouches before I sterilize them so they stay good BUT, you can flame the tip and let it cool before you stick it in the hole in the lid to suck up the spore juice* with 10ccs a piece.
Here is how Magash does it.He's probably better at it than I am.
Magash's Syringe Tek #1430771 - 04/05/03 03:22 AM Edit Reply Quote Quick Reply
Supplies needed 1 print 6 syringes with 10 mil of sterile water. 1 syringe with 12 mil of sterile water. Shot glass Clean place to work
Now if my friend has a ton of prints of a certain strain he just puts the whole print in a syringe and uses. This gives him stripes in 2 days. Now if he's in a situation where he's running low (like his Cambo's right now) he does this. 1. Take the print and put the spores into the shot glass. 2. Take the syringe with 12 mil of sterile water and suck the whole print into it. Shake it up real good; I?m assuming we all know the jet dry thing. 3. Now put 2 mil of the print water into the shot glass. 4. Take one of the 6 syringes with 10 mil of sterile water and shoot a little into the shot glass and suck it back up. I'm assuming we all know that there is only 10 mil of water cause of the 2 mil from the print syringe. 5. Repeat the process until you use the rest of the syringes.
Now the reasons for doing this.
1. Much more even distribution of spores per syringe then sitting there trying to scrape an even amount of spores into the shot glass for each syringe. Just shake the print syringe before making a normal syringe. 2. The spores aren?t in the open as long. Every time you put spores into the shot glass you have to open the print and clean your scraping tool before doing so.

There are many different teks about making syringes. Just check out the cultivation section.
