Paneolus subbalteatus grows almost every place in the world. It likes cow pies or rotting hay stacks. Altough it is supposed to be mild the latest info that I got is that it is equally potent with cubensis. Psilocybe azurescens has been established in Virginia, Michigan and Wisconsin. It is a very potent wood eater. I am going to try to establish them both in my garden in Toronto. There is a list I saw somewhere mapping the different species that are native to each area. Subbalteatus fruits in the spring and azurescens( or the one I am growing cyanescens) fruits late in the fall. I believe almost any cubensis might do okay outside this summer as with el nino here this summer, the great lakes should get tons of hot humid gulf of mexico air and rain rain rain.
