    #6073252 - 09/18/06 07:30 AM (17 years, 7 months ago)

ok a buddy of mine was caught shoplifting at meijer's (grocery store) back in January or Febuary. they filed a civil case and he had to pay them some pretty large amount of money. and they said he would face criminal charges too.

and nothing has been filed against him, or atleast he hasnt heard anything, so he asked me to try to find out what the statue of limitations was for being charged.. i cant find anything online thou

anyone help me?

"in times of widespread chaos and confusion, it has been the duty of more advanced human beings - artists, scientists, clowns, and philosophers - to create order. In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption"

Misdemeanor theft is usually 2 years, felony theft 5 years.

Sounds like your situation had to do more with some time limit to produce evidence for a case, and your case was dismissed for failure to produce evidence. If you were arrested and already charged, the statute of limitations does not really apply, I think.

The laws vary from each state, and even for the crime.
