nice setup, looks like your doing pretty good. What was the weight of the first flush dry? Im pretty amazed that this works so well. When i started a had a whole fuckin setup going, everything was perfect. Well Obviously not because i didnt grow one fuckin mushroom. Man those days where horrible.

How do you add humidity ? with a simple water-spray? No probs of contam?

50/50: what is 50 and what is the other 50?

Sorry for the questions, but I am preparing myself for growing my first time as well but didn't understand the why of the casing soil on the substrate. The question is more pertinent yet now that you tell me that it was NOT sterilized. So... why is that casing layer supposed to be useful?

The casing layer has no nutrients in it, so some people can get away with not cleaning it first. The casing layer is used to retain moisture, and ward off contaminiants, and according to growing books, the deeper the casing layer, the bigger and better flushes you get. Dont go over 2 inches though:)bluhoney

I have to add, I wouldn?t case with 2 inches of casing if you only have 1 inch of substrate. The depth of the casing layer has to correspond that of the substrate and is around 1/4th the dehth of the substrate.(for instance 4 inches substrate and 1 inch casing).
