The SEATTLE SEAHAWKS, SHRINE
#6065552 - 09/15/06 05:12 PM (17 years, 4 months ago) |
|
|
Deion Branch 5-9, 183, fifth season
What's to like: Explosiveness and athleticism allow him to play bigger than he is, and his quickness and ability to separate help him provide the run after the catch.
What's not to like: Undersized, and had only one season with 60 or more receptions with Patriots.

Nate Burleson 6-0, 192, fourth season
What's to like: Has the skills needed to play in Seahawks system -- quickness, good hands, ability to set up defenders. Can also be a deep threat.
What's not to like: Didn't play in a very sophisticated passing game in Minnesota; needs to improve his routes and recognition.

Bobby Engram 5-10, 188, 11th season
What's to like: One of the better slot receivers in the league, according to one scout, because he can read coverages so well and is quick enough to get separation.
What's not to like: He's 33, and also lacks ideal size and speed. "But that's about all you can ding him on," offered one scout.
 D.J. Hackett 6-2, 199, third season
What's to like: Can get open deep and make the clutch catch because of his leaping ability, timing and knack for adjusting to the ball when it's in the air.
What's not to like: Lacks consistency and durability, and also needs to show that he can be more than just a vertical threat.

Darrell Jackson 6-0, 201, seventh season
What's to like: Runs excellent routes and has developed a rapport with QB Matt Hasselbeck that keeps them on the same page.
What's not to like: Lacks elite speed and size. Right knee trouble caused him to miss 10 games last season, this preseason and training camp.

Just observe the elite wide-outs that we have, and no need to get jealous, maybe your team eventually get there

All these receivers are all legitimate starters, everyone of them is good, no way is Carolina and the Cowboys come close to this receiving corp.
They might have a single receiver who puts up big numbers, but these receivers by committee are by far better,

I personally like Drew Carter. a 3 year player out of Ohio State.
he might not be better than engrahms old ass.. but hes every bit as good as Burelson.. and wayy better than D.J Hackett
and i didnt say Drew Carter was wayyyy better than Engraham and Burelson, never said that
I was implying that Keyshawn, Smith, and Colbert were a better trio than the top 3 for Seattle

You actually said T.O. , all that guy's going to do is wreck your team,
just look how good the eagles got by letting his ass go, addition by substraction, the cowboys better figure that one out quick

Keyshawn who will soon start whining because Delhomme can't get him the ball...Steve Smith who can't get on the field...And Colbert, who in his last full season garnered 25 catches.
Yeah, he's real good alright. Get yer' head out of your Seahawk hating arse.

regardless of whether u think T.O is a good influence for teams or not.. no1 can sit there and say that hes not one of the very best WR's to play the game.

Oh he very well is...He just needs a QB that won't throw the ball into triple coverage on a 2-20 up by seven with less then 2 minutes in the half. Not to mention a QB who can actually move.

ok.. we're not arguing about QB's on this thread. Hasselbeck is far better than Bledsoe is..
merely comparing the quality of WR. stay on topic.

Drew Carter in his first start last week posted better numbers than all of the starter Seattle WR's.

Carter had 5 recptions for 62 yards.
Burleson had 1 reception for 36.
Jackson had 5 recpt. for 47 yards.
Bobby Engram had 5 recpt. for 52 yards.
Hardly better numbers. Hardly. That's a real crappy point Banez. Besides, small sample size, your going to weigh Carters' one game against 3 recievers career numbers that dwarf Carters?

yeah.. hes been in the league for 3 years?.. thats last saying Engraham is better than Steve Smith because hes been in the league longer.
im just saying.. week 1 proformance... Drew Carters first career start.. posted better numbers than any WR from Seattle. Proved my point.

No it didn't...the team lost and scored as many touchdowns as the Hawks if I recall correctly.
Pointing at small sample size is not like saying Engram is better then Smith...It's saying that come the end of the season I doubt Carter's numbers will be comparable to Engram, Jackson, and Burleson. Simple as that.
You really lack common sense Banez. This is easy to see.

so what he posted a little better numbers in a losing effort, in week one, what is the point?
look our receving individually aren't going to have the greatest numbers because we win by committee, that is what makes us so good, we don't need a single guy making all the catches, where defenses can zero in on that particular guy and shut air attack down, that is how teams go far in the playoffs, the patriots were no different when they won the superbowl 3 times.

look you don't have to argue, Bill Leavy made that argument for you,
You know how gay the NFL is, you know I would like to see a fair and square rematch in this regular season, but the NFL didn't put Pittsburgh on our schedule, put us in fair game and we'd destroy Pittsburgh, but I can understand, our team being better is not enough these days, its about something else, I don't know what it is.

its not really 1-16.. like in betting odds its not.. cauz there are probably 6-8 teams that can be ruled out. IMO
sure the odds are in my favor, but a true fan would put his money where his mouth is.

What were you saying about me being stupid about discarding carliona as a super bowl contender, they suck, and our team showed how much they suck, you suck that hard without coming out of it with deflated your confidence, if you remember, these guys thought they we really good after beating Chicago in the playoffs, but when we destroyed them, they realized they suck, and they're not going to recover,

even at 0-2 i still think they are in the hunt, they have been without Steve Smith who is their offense.
i think they will rebound and still be a contender.

Rebound, yes, contender, I dunno. What Pittsburgh(and Carolina) did with the road wins was an anomoly, and I don't see it happening again. Homefield adv. is going to be big in the NFC this year.
This season is looking much like 04-05' for the Panthers.
