Mimosa Hostilis?
    #606209 - 04/12/02 10:55 AM (14 years, 7 months ago)

Just curiose if anyone is familiar with this magical plant?
Where is most of this grown? Can it do well in climates in the U.S.? With/without greenhouse? Or is most of the material from ethnobotanical companies harvested from wild plants in forests or jungles somewhere? I remember a seperate forum for legal shamanic plant supplier discussion somewhere, but haven't been able to find it lately...

hi spore!
altough i've never taken no 'anahuasca', i'm a little familiar with this plant, perhaps i can help you a bit.
i bet it can be grown in most of the US if not all (all but alaska). i also bet it already exists in the states closer to mexico and perhaps in florida too. it will not fit a greenhouse, it's actually a tree.
actually i doubt ethnobotanical companies would sell their stuff from trees grown by themselves. they take years to be big enough for harvesting. yes, i bet they take the roots/bark from wild trees. aren't you talking about www.ayahuasca.com?

Well, I called a popular ethnobotanical company and they said the plants were cultivated, not wild, and that they grow in tropical climates with 60 degree lows in temp. at night or warmer. If anyone knows for a fact if this plant grows wild in the U.S. or Mexico I would really like to find out where!

man, a plant like this need about ~10 years of growing before being big enough for being harvested seasonally... it's kinda hard to belive they've grown all shit they sell... salvia is believable but caapi, chaliponga, p. viridis, virola, mimosa and yopo take a LOT of time to grow...
