A few growth questions

I have a small terrarium where 2 cakes set on metal lids. They seem to have moisture droplets forming on the cakes. Is this bad? I find it weird, but the walls are driping with moisture yet the humidity gauge (anolog) reads only 91-96% Temps in the terrarium are around 76 deg. I am using about an inch of perlite with about 1/4-1/2 inch of water on the bottom. I birthed them last friday and no signs of growth. I did cold shock them for about 6 hours in the fridge yesterday to see if would help initiate some fruiting. If the walls are dripping with moisture, the hummidty must be 100% RIGHT? Im not too sure about it. Am i doing anything wrong?

It sounds like you'll be fine. You'll probably see something within the next week. I know it's hard but be patient and keep fanning. I did notice one thing. You might want to fill the lid with damp verm and set the cake on top of it. Maybe even add a little damp verm to the top. Both would help. Good luck.

Still hoping someone can answer my humidity question. >If the walls are dripping with moisture, the hummidty must be 100% RIGHT?

It sounds like it should be at the right humidity, however, if your cakes have moisture on them use a paper towel to dab it off..

If ther is moisture on the walls of your terraium then your humidity is likely 90+ and high enough for your mushrooms. You don't need a complete 100%. Stick your hand in a bucket of water, thats definately 100%!

This analog therm/hygro is reading 87-89%. At one point it was pretty on at about 96% for about 5 days. The walls are dripping wet. The Hygrometer has condensation on it. Could the perlite not be working anymore. I find it wierd to be at 96% and then all the sudden 89 in a day. I even misted the walls last night to try and bring it up and the gauge still said 89. What is a good digital if you all think that is my problem?

Throw the hygrometer in the bin. IMO anologue ones don't work. If you're using perlite, there is enough humidity, no need to worry. Water droplets on cakes are not really a problem, as long as they're not swimming. Don't worry about a hygrometer. Good luck

All this and the humidty gauge was fine. Even though it appeared by looking at the side of the terrarium that there was water in there, the top of the perlite was not wet. So i mixed it around a bit and sprayed the top with a spray bottle and my humidity went back up to 94-96. Live and Learn. thanks all.

My hygro reads 91-93% and so far all my cakes fruit and show signs of pins in 4 days so my meter must be fucked or its possible to fruit in 90+ humidity 95%+ is ideal for premature mushrooms to fruit however
