Disagree.
Agree with red

Yes, and that buddha would say no one should follow his every step, but should strive to make their own way, based on their experience. I think the essence of the quote is that no one can follow an identical path to anyone else. Perhaps even trying is folly, although that doesn't mean that one can't glean insights from another's good ideas. But how can anyone possibly know just what the workings of another man's mind are, the complex of his intentions, and the landscape of his imagination, his visions, all that?

I disagree. It's like saying the only true Christian was Jesus.
Plus, in my opinion, Nietzche was a fool.

The map is not the territory. The concept of the path is a map. A "nihilist" might step directly in the footprint of a "buddhist" on this allegorical path, but that does not mean both men had the same intentions or inner lives. Two men of the same cloth could be walking one in front of the other on the path, but really they could be worlds apart. That's because the path could never be the same for two people. Even if all of the same doctrine and ritual and practice was employed by both, they would still be having a very different experience, because of inherent differences between all individuals and also their different backgrounds.

Follow-up question for those who disagree: Do you agree with the original quote?
"There was only one Christian, and he died on the cross."
