Mono tub woes

It has been two weeks since i have introduced light and air to my wbs/coir and i have nothing to show for it. i opted not to use a casing layer, which may be my downfall but i'm not sure. i see what could be a hyphal knot in a few isolated places but nothing significant. what i have is 2 gallons of substrate covered in little tiny droplets of water. what does this mean? should i increase the amount of air i throw at this sucker? this is my first mono tub and i really don't know what to do so some advice would be nice.
thanks.

the fan that is going in the room right now, turn it up.
it takes a while, you'll have pins within a week.

Hopefully it was fully colonized when you introduced light/air. If so, you should have seen pins by now. A fan can easily dry out a substrate so be careful if you use one. RR

it was indeed fully colonized, as far as i could tell (the outside, of course). i was hesitant of setting the fan too high and drying the substrate out so i tried to play it safe. are there any tell-tale signs to look for telling me to lay off the fan?
thanks fellows, you are two of a handful of people i was hoping to get help from.

having a fan going in the room on low, oscillating will keep the air slowly moving.
this will keep the air in the monotub (which is at least a foot off of the ground right?) slowly circulating inside.
this constant flow of air can almost ensure you that the air inside the monotub and outside the monotub are very similar.
so then you may use condensation as a judge for humidity. if the monotub ceiling/top is bone dry, and the walls are bone dry, and there is no visible moisture on the surface, you may have a problem.
if you can see a very fine amount of condensation in parts of the mono tub, you're looking pretty good.
but anyway, condensation is a terrible judge for humidity, and I don't like relying upon it.
What many of us do is dunk the substrate upon full colonization. Yes, before the first flush. The mycelium had drink while colonizing you know? And if a casing layer is added, it is misted to near saturation.
So once that lid closes after casing, we are positive that the water levels of the substrate and casing are at near saturation. Perfect.
The ploy-fail is not for filtering the air, that's a silly idea with a fruiting chamber. The ploy-fail is for air flow restriction and for holding the humidity inside of the tub, where it belongs.
Now if you have a fan pointing on the tub directly, that ploy-fil cannot stop the moisture from exiting the tub. You'll notice the ploy-fil begin to get a touch damp to the touch, this is your bad sign.
I use an enclosed room with mono tubs with a fan pointing at nothing going on medium at all times. the air circulates well, and the monotubs really dig it.
It's an easy fix for adjustment, just turn the fan up or down, and for fine tuning, change where it is directed towards.
