Some images from the week...
    #6046490 - 09/10/06 12:02 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

Things are really booming here lately in SC.
Here are some images:

This horse field was barren for most of the summer, then just in a 24 hr. period, BAM!

^It's greengills galore!

It was scenes like this that caused me to go out extra this week.

I found these Chantrelles that I think are Cantharellus cinnabarinus

A fairy ring:

I ventured to that spot in the woods, and to my surprise, found more cubes popping up:

They don't really belong here. There is horse dung in the area, but none of these specimens are growing from it. They are comming from the ground, I think there may have been cows here in the recent past.
BTW, I don't pic them, I just think it makes things more interesting, it's nice to see the magic just around :smirk:

Here's some cool stuff to look at:
I visited this rock that the locals call "Peachtree Rock" b/c it's in the shape of a peachtree.

In the image, you can see where the trees are bent to the side and then begin to grow upward again (well, it's kinda hard to recognize in this image). That's b/c when the trees began to grow, the rock was in it's way so they grew around the rock. Eventually, the rock was eroded away so the trees stand free of it.

Then, I came across this cool worm.

At first, I thought it was a lizard that buried itself up to it's head. Then, I realized that it was a worm with these markings and when threatened will swoll his head and slowly rock from side to side making it look like a "snake" or "lizard"

Enjoy  :mushroom2:

Looks a bit arid over there atm but obviously not if the shrooms are popping up.

Cool caterpillar. I wonder what it'll turn into?

Nice pics and interesting finds. I'm not familiar with the chanterelles you find, they sure do have a funky color! Also the enigmatic forest-cubes keep surprising me, cool find!

In what way does it remind you of us?

And, yeah, I'll try to dig up more information and see what it will turn into.
Yeah, it dries up real quick (sandy). As a matter of fact, this is the exact area that silica sand comes from (the kind that is in an hourglass), SC was once more than half covered in ocean.

As for the chants, I'm not really sure. They (obviously) are not yellow, but the only variation I see so far is the cinnabar, and I don't think that they are as red or pink.
