    #6045085 - 09/09/06 09:35 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

I have a coir brick... well actually many of them...

Can i put them into a big bag and hit them with a hammer as to make it easier for me to measure it you so I can get better measurements?

How do you all break up your coir?

i use a saw

a knife

or some times i beat the hell out of it with a screwdriver and hammer..

sometimes i just throw it in a bucket and add water...

so do as you please.... release your aggression

i promise there is no correct way to do this and no matter how you do it your not going to hurt it at all..

well maybe if you put it in a blender... you want to try to keep the coconut in its strandy state and not all powdery...

indi

Same way you mentioned, but the coir in a bag then break it up with a hammer.

I then take out about a 1/4 cup dry and fill a 50cc syringe with hot water and slowly add water to the coir and do a squeeze test every so often to see where it is at.

I then write how much water it took to hydrate a 1/4 cup and how much that 1/4 cup expanded to on the bag.

Makes doing subs a breeze when you know how much room you have and can prepare that exact amount with little waist
