Panaeolus Suphanburi

Has anyone grown out any Panaeolus Suphanburi yet? How was the yeild, contam resistance, colonization speed, and potency? Any tips on substrates to use, or casing soils to use? I have done cubes PF style since the early 90's, and within the past year moved into bulk casings. I've never had any experience with any other fungus than P.Cubensis. Would a person with my experience have much difficulty cultivating Panaeolus Suphanburi? Thanks for any and all replies.

you should have marginal difficulty.
Pan. Suphanburi is the Goliath strain.
Search Pan Goliath.
yield depends on substrate, parameters and (sub)strain
contam resistance is a mute point. I don't know any one strain more resistant than another. that's your job: keeping it clean.
colonization speed is very rapid. The pan species colonize very fast. the mycelium is weak and wispy, but it moves quick through a perfectly prepared substrate.
potency is crazy. 2-5 times that of a good cube strain. Very intense on the brain and easy on the body. Good stuff.
there are many different techniques to pans. look in the mushroom cultivation archives under panaeolus.

If you can grow cubs on a bulk sub, you'll be able to grow cyans.
If your work area is clean and you can control temps, humdity and air exchange, you shouldn't have a problem wtih Pan Goliath. Most Panaeolus strains are the same. If you can grow one, u can grow them all.
This is Pan Suphanburi fruiting from horse manure, brf and verm.

Wow Jim! Those are beautiful! I'm hoping when i can get some cash together, I'll be able to afford some of the Pan Cyans, Pan Goliath, Pan Vietnamese, and Pan Cambodia. But it may take a while. I think I'm about done doing P.Cubensis. But it depends on how much nausea, and diarhea the pans cause because I have no problems with the cubes whatsoever.

great work Jim!
i have a print of Goliath. i will try to grow them- i hope i´ll success!
do they need a lot of O2?
Cubes grow under high concentration of CO2.

WaylitJim,
Where did you get your s[popres form. I am the person who collected the original Suphanburi Copelandia species.
Suphanburi is where the kwai farm is and I have posted the images there.
They are only Copelandia cyanescens form a spore print obtained at the Kwai Farm in Suphanburi Thailand.
Recently (last Summer), bags of manured feertilizer form the Kwai farm was purchased ata a local market in bangkok and the fertilizers were spread completely in the surrounding gardens of the Department of Microbiology at Chula in Bangkok and they popped up completely around the buiilding and also around the office of the dean of the university.
WE also collected massive prints from them.
I only provided prints of the strain to two people so I was curious as to where your prints came from.
Anyone can take a two hour city bus ride to the Kwai farm but you cannot go where the cattle are without legal permission form the military and/or a major school associated with the Queen of Thailand's agricultural farm program (meaning students or teachers or researchers.
btw,
nice clusters there, almost similar tot he growth opf Panaeolus subbalteatus at the fresh mushrooms farm in Tiel, Nederlands.

Yes I know. You do good work MJ. I'm very glad you shared this one with the OMC. The spores originally came from Sporeworks around the time Goliath was first released.

MJ, these are from a dried mushroom sample you sent me from Suphanburi in 2002, not from a spore print. At the time you collected it as unusual and you weren't certain if it even was a Copelandia.
Here is the original mushroom and it doesn't look like a cope to me either.

Well I have my Pan Cyan syringes in hand. I ordered them from Ralphster's. I got Pan Sup, Pan Viet, Pan Cam, and Pan Ban Lamai. The syringes are very, very clear. I see absolutely nothing in them like I have with cubes. I've read plenty on all of them except the Pan Ban Lamai's. Has anyone done any work with those yet?
