My friend went to Mexico, to the village that Wasson went to back in the 50's, where he "discovered" the mushroom use. He did say there was salvia usage there, chewed obviously. I don't think he joined them on that, only mushrooms, which he described as a very interesting very christian experience.
Starting up a new religion that sees salvia as a teacher though? I'd look more into the DPT church for reference than peyote.

...the idea of a salvia religion is even sadder than Christianity... at least Christianity doesn't revolve around: oh sweet a drug, lets make a religion out of it... The very way you are trying to start a religion is in opposition to what a religion is supposed to be.
A 30 person religion would have no benefits, you need many more to become an actual government approaved religion. Good luck beating out that Star Wars religion - people have been trying for years for it to become legit, and tons more would be down than for a salvia religion.

I think it could be done right, with the right people. Unfortunately those people are very rare and you are very unlikely to get 30 or more of those people living in the same geographical area working together.
It would have to be very open ended, maybe a forum for interpretation by like minded people. I find it unlikely that the US government would recognize it, though, even if things were done well.

For information regarding starting a religion you should visit
www.ulc.org where you can become an ordained minister for free in about 5 minutes and you can establish a religion...

There was some talk about starting a religion to protect salvia from criminalization or at least to keep it legal for "cult" members. Okay, in Poland there are few people who seriously think about that. It isn't meant to be a "salvia cult" but an open-minded, non-doctrinal spiritual group that uses salvia as a sacrament. You know "peace in the world", "we all are brothers and sisters", etc.
I'm not interested in discussions about how bad religions are. We don't want to have hierarchy or strict dogmas. From practical point of view the main aim of this group is to protect salvia. I'm seeking like-minded people to exchange ideas. Maybe we could make an international church or something like that?
I think I've heard that there are some religious groups that use salvia as a sacrament. I've heard about "the church of the tree of life" and some group in Canada that uses low dose of salvia for meditation.
Can someone help me out with obtaining more information? Maybe some links? Maybe someone's involved?

In our case it's not about "salvia religion" but spiritual group that uses salvia as a sacrament. No worship. Like Wine in Christianity.
