can anyone point me in the right direction for cultivating B+ in the midwest outdoors? i have a large foresty area where othe rmushrooms seem to do well, as well as very moist areas that occassionally flood, and rotting logs, ect to inocculate. i can also obviously buy my own straw or whatever, but the main thing is being able to grow these outside, and avoid risk of legal repurcussions!

1. other mushrooms will compete with yours. yours won't win against hardy natural species. 2. you need an outdoor greenhouse, only way to have enough humidity--remember P.Cubensis is a subtropical species that requires a warmer wetter climate than Midwest. 3. visit www.thehawkseye.com Ryche is most knowledgable about outdoor growing, check out his info. B+ does not like wood, it's actually the B strain, just fyi

actually FYI all cubies like wood, they like many substrates, but the B being the only cub to like wood is a total myth.

Why fight the system? Throw out the B+ and get some real wood eaters. I am going to try and start up Psilocybe cyanescens in my garden in Toronto. I just got my spores yesterday from www.sporelab.com. Another woodeater is azurescens. These just might grow in your conditions. Once they are covered in snow they will not be subject to the cold. In nature, they freeze and thaw and fruit right through the early snows. I am going to try the cubensis in the garden as well but treat them as an annual. I was planning to use composted cattle manurer from the garden centers in a pile and then break up the cakes and innoculate the pile with it. I think it needs to be modified a bit. I think if you mixed the rotting wood and the cattle manurer together you would have a perfect environment for the B+. Give it a try if you already have the spores.
