Hey everyone,
To make a long story short, a friend of mine just gave me 6 fully colonized jars (still sealed). 4 had shrooms growing all over them in the jar(I picked them and they are now in a desicant chamber), and they didnt seem to be rotted, though somewhat damp. 1 jar smelled bad and was contaminated, I threw it out. The last jar had shrooms but I think they were definitly rotten (pithy brown in the middles and almost wet). I made a small terrerium and did the whole perlite thing. 5 cakes are in there. My friend (who doesnt know much about growing) said that he has like 100 more jars (his old roomate moved out and left them all) that have been in a spare bedroom for about 1-2 months. Should I be messing with them, I have grown twice with moderate results. What do you think, am I lucky or is this wishful thinking?

I'm no expert, but as long as they haven't had pins formed and died, and there is no sign of infection.

I'd get at least 20 jars into as tank ASAP. If you have to many left over to do grow mushrooms from, and they have not been contaminated, eat them, or through a party.

Everyone likes a party, and you already have the cake.
