I think it is rather clear that Blair certainly was a passive man who yielded to Bush's agenda, a man without a lack of vision or ability to act as a true leader.
Let us consider the fact that he is willing to step down as the leader of his country simply due to the fact that some members of his own party are criticizing his performance.
A real leader would have a prominent sense of identity and assuredness of one's abilities to lead. This ideal leader would be more concerned about implementing his policies than whether or not he is being received favorably by the people he represents. Perhaps if he was such a leader, he would be acting in a successful manner, and would be well-supported by his colleagues.
Clearly, this Gordon Brown has bigger balls and stepped up and performed a political coup. My prediction is that he is a terrible politician as well.
 Peace.

We really need a new system whereby a prime minister can only serve a limited number of terms, Thatcher had to be chased out with a broom in the end, it was a joke. We currently have all this wrangling with Gordon Brown positioning himself to take over from Blair and leaking stories to the press, in order to discredit Blair. Supposedly Brown and Blair made a deal in a cafe before he became prime minister that Blair would step down after a certain number of years, allowing Brown to take over. I just wonder where the electorate stands in their machinations. We voted for Blair, not Brown so can he just step up as Blair steps down? Not that there is any viable opposition party anyway, nobody wants a fricking conservative government, those guys were douches.

Tony Blair is leader of the UK Labour Party, which formed a government with him as Prime Minister. He is not President, he does not have a Presidential mandate, although I can see how you could make that mistake, he has trouble in that area himself.
He represents the people of Sedgfield, in total 24,421 people voted for Blair at the last election.
As for his relationship with President Bush, there is a skill to being the junior partner in a relationship, something that Thatcher had and he totally lacks. It is possible to offer support without sniveling subservience.
He has put his own interests above that of his party and the country, his autocratic 'presidential' style has alienated him from his own party which increasing considers him a liability more than an asset, and he knows that a civil war within the party will be extremely damaging and will certainly loose them the next election.
As for Brown, the idea of him as Prime Minister scares me. He relentless crusade for 'social justice' as he puts it, confiscatory taxes and multi-billion pound schemes and mountains of regulation and red tape will be a return to be old red Labour.
However his succession is by no means certain. A week is a long time in politics, and its going to be a up to a year before Blair steps down. British politics is a blood sport, a lot can happen between now and then.
