You're probably paying to much attention to them. Plants need some time to themselves to be plants. There like female, if you pay attention to them and be nice to them and love them, they walk all over you and give you up for other people. So in other words, let your poppies move on. Just try to be happy for them when they're growing happy at your ex-best freinds house.

http://www.poppies.org/ If you've ever grown herb, use what you've used to bloom when your in veg. And what you've used in veg. when your in bloom. Maybe if you have details like watering schedule, nutes, light source/ratios, location....

Probably "damping off" disease. Start your seedlings off in sterilized soil. Once they get big enough to transplant they are pretty much immune.

Really sorry to hear of your poppie problems, sounds alot like damping off or fungus. They are a hardy plant but do need certain care. Baby Bear began by mixing seeds with a small amount of sand and placing them in the freezer overnight. The garden 8'x10' was preped with one bale of peat and around ten bags of manure, all bought at Wally World. This was tilled up to about a foot deep. A small indenture was made in the soil and the seeds spread, then slightly covered. Watering was minimal with Miracle Grow added every two weeks. After sprouting they were thinned out, to give them more room. They have been in the ground since November and survived several freezing nights. Mainly they were left alone with very light weeding (not too close). Here they were a few days ago, almost all 10 plants have pods now about six apiece......
We are so happy Shrooms galore and poppies too. Don't give up, it only takes a few seeds to make more than enough plants for the backyard, we don't want to be too obvious.

man, these beautiful pics make me so jealous and anxious to get my own growing! is the freezing of seeds and sand intended to sterilize them? besides my cultivation trials here i have also dropped a LOT of seeds at my grandfa's farm in the coutry... perhaps i get more luck over there! i guess if some poppies thrieve that region is going to be infested with O poppies! =D what if it gets cold here in the winter but (usually) not enough for snow or freezing? will they bloom only in the spring/summer? (south hemisphere here...) thanks papa bear!
