Hey Guys for all of you who say coco coir sucks as a sub take a look at these.

Thats about 8 pounds wet. I had 3 grams dry and they are the strongest mushies I have had to date.
Rock on, and smoke on!

Good to see results. I'm using this right now with some coffee grounds and calcium carbonate. Mine just colonized 2 days ago and i applied a 50/50+ casing. Waiting for good spots on the surface so they can see light and fresh air.

8 POUNDS wet. LOL! 128 oz./10 = 12.8 oz. dry from 2 dishpan casings? You're the man.
Very nice grow though.

Very Nice But I have to agree with the man above , those aren't 6 1/2 ounces dryed per casing . I've seen casings produce 5 ounces dry , and it was a lot more , and bigger fruits , then either of those casings .

You used Coir as a substrate? Is there a link to this tek? I might try it.

those who say coir doesn't make a good substrate simply don't know what they're talking about.

good job
I knew it would be a great sub as soon as I tried using it as a casing layer ,LMAO
I just prefer poo . I've got a 20 pound brick of coir that's been laying around for a year and a half now . Maybe I'll spawn it up and get rid of it .

spawnitup! you might think twice in the future about playing around with animal excrement in your kitchen!
haha that aside mixing it WITH poo works fantastic too. you could save it for a rainy day when you're low on the poo to stretch it out... though from what ive heard you got a secret warehouse full of tennstud around so that's not a problem either...

Hey guys. I used LC to WBS to Coir with bone and blood meal cased with 50/50 +. The weight blew my mind I can't even figure out how to dry all this shit. These casings were very very dense. It took me 4 hours to pick and clean. Total is about 8 pounds wet. Lets just say all these mushrooms fill about 100 square feet as one layer, gonna need to rig up a crazy dehydrator. Shout out to AGAR your coir grow inspired me as did RoadKill's.
Also the potency is amazing with the addition of blood and bone meal. I used 1 large Tbls to one small brick of coir.

BTW the casings were about 6 pounds of sub in each container. I had to pick them by grabng hand full sized clusters. I would say each tray was about 15-20 hand full clusters. The whole casing was one big cluster, it tore up my entire casing layer.

So currently I have 24 Quart jars of RYE that have been knocked up and are now in my TIT. I was going to follow the Magash tek for everything but what would you all recommend... I am using the same dish washing pans as you... I have 12 of them with a 3 shelf Martha. Which means i think i could fit 4 on each shelf... which would be really loading it up... After fully colonized should I just case the rye with 2 quarts in each pan with coir/verm, or more if i use less tubs. Advise, tips, anything would be much appreciated

My coir/coffee sub just contamed. It was my first try (growing) and it got bacteria at about 80% colonized. It stinks like industrial fumes. I'm in mourning, but plan to find some more spores and try again
Sorry, thought I'd share, but good luck to you

My coir contamed too. I think it was just sloppy handling of it when I was hydrating it. I tried to be as clean as possible, but I probably cut some corners too. It was about 70-80% colonized when the green mold set in. I opened it smelled like what I can only imagine Tuncan Sam's asshole smelled like. If you were perhaps wondering what Tuncan Sam's asshole taste like go try some Tab soda.

I used 6 - 12qt sweaterboxes. Even with the flush/large fruits and everything. I got just over 10 oz's dry.
Thos 2 tubs can't produce that much dry. But what a nice pinset indeed. Keep up the coir work, i found that mine got a case of the mean green after the first flush. But sure did put out some whoppers!!!

If you pasteurize the coir and raise the ph to 8, you can easily get 3 or 4 flushes out of it if you clean the substrate well in between them.
In fact, I never used a liming material when using husks from a coconut. Just pasteurized and that's it.

Hot water Pasturization
( I like this with the exception of changing the temp on my hot water heater. I just heat water to 170 in my pc pots and put inside a cooler for about an hour and 1/2)
