The Recipe i was using was:

I don't know about the microwave technique for sterilization, but 15 minutes at 15 psi, pour and in about 2-3 hours they are ready to go.

taping them up and popping them in your fridge probably didnt help, also the more you handle it the more contams are likely.

I usually just pour them and leave them on my counter for a bit and inncoulate within 24 hours. in fact there are a few sitting and waiting for me now.

You can't sterilize agar with a microwave. You'll need a pressure cooker.

You should also use a container that has a filtered lid, and sterilize the agar with the lid in place. The filtered lid protects the agar as it cools.
