I blast my outdoor plants frequently with a spray bottle. Knocks most of them off, and aphids hate getting wet.

Put a few drops of liquid dish soap like Dawn into a spray bottle, and fill with water. Give the leaves a light misting. The soapy water coats the Aphids and suffocates them. This will work for aphids and many other small pests.

The soap method works great. I had the same problem with mine for an entire season before I finally got rid of them.....now my plant is looking a little worse for wear. The little bastards came in on an atropa belladona plant I received. I began treating them with a pyrethrin spray, but after the atropa died, I abondoned that method. Then I got a hold of a soap/capsicum spray and that did the trick, killed them bastards alright...........You also might want to get something to treat them ants aswell. Some diazanon granules should set you strait.

i think the ants are impossible to kill - they're everywhere!!! millions!!! i think the garden actually needs them... but not my woodroses. i noted they tried to put aphids on my brugmansias but it didnt seem to work for them...
men, we dont have that brand of soap here, what kind of soap is it?? dishwashing liquid soap??? if yes, im afraid for my plant! that stuff kills anything alive i've seen!!! and what are diazanon granules? (those poison that ants carry back home?)

The brand of soap doesn't matter, any of them will work. Just use any liquid dish soap, if you can't find any, get some liquid hand soap. The soap doesn't act as a poison, it just coats their bodies and suffocates them. Use the soap method instead of any nasty destructive chemical poisons.

Any liquid dish soap will do.....I just used one mixed with hot pepper extract to aid it, but soap does just fine by itself. If you have access to it, get one of those things that hook to a garden hose and dilutes fertilizer or soap and mixes it with the water. This way you can spray down the whole garden quickly. The diazanon(sp?) are just little granules of poison that the ants carry back to their nests and it works to kill the queen and the infantile ants, it works rather well. I just spread the granules around any anthills nearby and some around my plants on the soil.
