How should you go about fruiting a casing with a 50/50 tek casing layer? I know what makes myc. begin to fruit, FAE, drop in temp and light, but i want to know how one of you have done this and gotten good results.
Thx

double tubs are set it and forget it.
what I would do:
open tub and apply 1/2" casing layer. mist casing layer until it glistens. close up the two tubs, seal them closed. re-cover the tubs, just barely leaving the bottom holes open. let the casing layer run for a couple of days.
if your substrate was completely level, and you applied your casing layer completely level, and if your moisture delivery was even and consistent, then the mycelium should evenly colonize the casing layer.
after a couple of days, look to see if the mycelium is poking through the casing surface. If it is, remove the cover carefully and place the tub in a room with the following conditions:
Controlled temperature between 70 and 85 degrees, 74-77 is optimal.
A fan oscillating in the room on low or medium, depending on the size of the room.
A light in the room set on a 12 on and 12 off timer. you can use indirect sunlight, 12-16 hours of light per day is optimal.
That's it.
DO NOT open the tub, mist the tub, fan the tub...
just wait for your fruits.
open when it's time to harvest, dunk the substrate, and do it all over again.
