Am I the only one who thinks steve irwin was a complete fucking psychopath?. I try not to idolize celebrities, so I won't lie and say I feel sorry for him or that I mourn his death. Ile just say he was going to die from an animal one day, and we all knew it.

If he had been more like Marlin , he'd still be alive .
I used to love it . Marlin , in front of the cam , at a safe distance , while his trusty assistant Jim tries to circumsize a water buffalo with a pocket knife . LMAO .

You wanna know what really scares me? As a kid I lived on an East Australian (Still do) waterfront and we used to go out into the mudflats and swim and fish and catch stingray with homemade spears. Hell once I even unknowingly PICKED UP A BLUE RINGED OCTOPUS. I'm surprised I never got stung or bitten by anything out there.
You know what's really sad? How some people in this thread have to turn it into an argument about who he was and what he did. Truth be that none of us really new who he was. Only his family will.
Death is a time of respect, no matter who the person was and what they did. When people used to be hanged for murder and violent crime the last words the priest would say to the accused would be "May God have mercy on your soul."
Not that any of that relates to Stever Irwin, but still I feel bad for his family.
I bet his soon Bob and daughter Bindi-Sue will grow up to be the stingray hunters!

When most celebrities die, I rarely give a shit but hearing this about Steve Irwin was a major downer. I don't know why, I'm not a wildlife buff and I don't have the Animal Planet channel, nor have I ever followed the career of Steve Irwin. But I did always notice he had a way with animals, and not just maintaining his safety around the dangerous ones. He had a genuine passion for the well being of all of God's critters, and truly cared for them. Under average circumstances I doubt this freak accident could have ever happened. Only a couple dozen or so people in the world have died from stingrays since they started counting in 1945, while Irwin has been face to face thousands of times with creatures that are far far more dangerous than a short-tail stringray. And really, had something slightly different happened, he could have easily survived. But freakishly that stingray's barb landed right where his heart was and pierced it open. RIP Steve. My gut tells me he has no animosity towards the said stingray at all. He loved the creatures of the planet, and had a sterling respect for them that few people in this day of age have. To me he's not just some celebrity. He was famous because he was a beloved and talented human. He will be missed.

The death of Steve Irwin is indeed sad. As it is sad when any seemingly good person dies. But really people get a hold of yourselves.
To all the fanatics: I am sure none of you knew him personally so there should be no need to shed a tear or get into a heated debate over ONE mans journey through life. If he was never famous then would he still deserve your grieving? When will the day of immortalizing the famous come to an end? I guess I just expected more from such a well educated community.

now now. I do not wish anyone to change for me or even sarcastically imply such. Thank you for speaking for the entire community. Sounds like a dictatorship to me though.

yes he would. He was a man who did a lot to further the cause of conservation and was a great ambasador for Australia. He was famous for the admirable job he did, not because he was the slutty daughter of a hotel magnate.

OK so I worded a few things wrong. Of course he deserves being grieved. I should have said 'would' he still be grieved. And I am certain the answer is no. Of course not because you wouldn't even know who he is. Also I should have stated "I guess I just expected more from such a 'seemingly' well educated community." My point is still the same though. Too many people make too big a deal out of celebrities.
post script - It was a little too obvious that you Mr. Feces were not being serious about apologizing. Furthermore why does everyone insist on dissecting everything people say and avoid the topic?
So I guess it is I who should apologize for not meticulously combing my statement before posting. <----not sarcasm.

What's with the whole anti-fame bit? Did not people here mourn the deaths of Terrence McKenna, Syd Barrett, and other beloved celebrities? How is Steve Irwin any different?
